I'm not out to bait you all here just curious after Hopheads' thread about Clinton and some of the responses.

Is there anyone worth a crap to run for President in 2008? Wait that question answers itself. NO

Who will the leading candidates be?

I don't know of any. Until someone is ready to stand up and state plainly that the national debt is our biggest challenge, and endorse raising taxes and cutting spending drastically, including the money borrowed from China to wage wars, they are all just political whores. The most serious issues in this country are ignored by both political parties, and I haven't seen a potential candidate yet who will speak the truth. The enormous national debt, and the budget and trade deficits are huge problems we're doing nothing about, our health care system is a joke, and we gauge how our economy is doing by whether the price of stocks are up or down, rather than by how many people go to bed hungry each night. We care far more about corporate profits than the environment. All of the possible candidates I've seen are part of the problem, and none are showing themselves capable of even recognizing what the problems are, much less offer a solution. And I'm talking about both parties here, BTW.

I see absolutely nobody on the Democrat side.

I see absolutely nobody on the Republican side. (and yes, I would vote for a Republican as long as they had the right ideas about fixing our nation)

Its not about party, its about our nation.

P.S. what SCB said also...

If it was based on who is the biggest and best liar...
we'd have us a cornacopia of chioces for the office

I used to have the "lesser of two evils" approach, but that thought process is flawed and seems to have become a cop-out on my part. If someone would "man-up" and admit that our country is being pimped out to foriegn and corporate influence for the sake of the almighty dollar and at face value, attempt to return to a government by the people and for the people. Well, that is my guy. Like Squatch said, political affiliation really wouldn't matter.

am I blind ? who knows, but to borrow a phrase from Sgt Shultz "I see nothinggggg"

I can't think of anybody. Maybe they'll just cancel the whole thing, suspend the government until somebady worth their salt shows up, and let us live our lives in peace.

How about Tom DeLay? He needs a job right now and he sure does know how to raise cash (or at least take it!)

Thomas Keys has been a pretty good Republican candidate the last two elections.

I thought that this was tongue in cheek until I read who posted it. I don't think this country can take another Bush.

Things have gotten to the point in politics in the US that nobody with the intelligence and character to be President will run. Nobody with the intelligence wants to go through the BS grinder that the process has become, and nobody with character is willing to compromise all their beliefs to get elected.

I also would love to see McCain run. I actually voted in the Republican primary in 2000 so I could vote for him(Virginia has open primaries). I don't agree with him all of the time, but I respect him and he's shown more courage in politics and in reality than just about any other contender.
