Don't know if any of you hang out on Dime, but there is currently a torrent of the D&D show from Tampa on 12-1-70 with Duane. This is a show I didn't have, and apparently this is the cleanest version around....
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=74675
Derek & the Dominos with Duane Allman
Curtis Hixon Hall
Tampa, FL
12/01/70
"Soul Mates Twin Flames" - Mid Valley Release
Boot>CDR>CDR>EAC>WAV>FLAC
d1
1. Layla
2. Got to Get Better in a Little While
3. Key to the Highway
4. Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad
d2
1. Blues Power
2. Have You Ever Loved a Woman
3. Bottle of Red Wine
4. Let it Rain
Notes: Relatively good sound quality for a D&D show. An upgrade over the circulating "Second Source Remix," but it may have some noise reduction in there. And, of course, Duane! |

hey,
i know i'm just an old bass player and musicians are notoriously dim(we're not even fluent in irony! heh!) but i got no clues as what a FLAC is and how to play it. i don't even know how to download this show after clicking on the link.
would someone clue me in? i need a client to download? what do i play it on when i'm done, my winamp?
i mean, this is what keeps me off the archive.org site...being clueless.
off to google and read faqs,
richard
and merry christmas, happy new year or solstice or whatever. L'chaim!!!! ____________________ "That's what I love man, to hear that backbeat POPPING, that damn bass plonkin' down, man, Jesus God!" - Duane Allman.

jAZZbASS - You need to download bit torrent client and can get it at: http://www.bittorrent.com/index.html
Then you need to get a FLAC player. Do a search and find it. I also use WinAmp to play these types of files.
I have the previous 2 versions of this show and this one is heads and shoulders above those two. This show rocks.

There are two versions of this show in circulation, mine is a Capt. Skip remaster courtesy of Old Coot, with an MC introducing the band. In December, 1970, Duane Allman was a living legend in the Southeast, Clapton wasn't as well known in this part of the country.
The MC says, "Please welcome Duane Allman and Earnest Clapton." Ol' Earnest turned out to be quite a picker!

I know this might sound like I am a total bung, but I have no idea what flac is and all of that stuff. (My wife helps me burn the shows I trade so I am clueless with this technology.)
But if anyone would have this show on CD and would trade or do a B&P please please please hook a brother up. I have a list of shows I have, so I can trade or whatever. Thanks for letting me grovel......... ____________________ Up for trading Vintage Duane and Berry Era Allmans and any Video up to Current members.

"dimeadozen.com" isn't accepting any more registrants. Been trying for a couple of weeks now. Bummer.
BitTorrent is a bit of a pain to get working, but with some patience & perserverance you can get it going, but you do need a little experience in loading and operating programs.
FLAC is pretty simple. Just download it from the site (provided above) & run it. It will expand your FLAC files so they will play on a media player. You can convert them to .wav's & burn them to cd with WinAmp or MusicMatch. Both are free downloads.
Now all I need is to wait until dimeadozen accepts new registrants, or wait 'till hell freezes over. ____________________

you can get on, just be persistent.
i got the show d/l'ed and seeded but then my firewall had issues. i'll have to configure my router to send like i did for mIRC and then it will be gravy. got some plug-in from the winamp site and it plays!
now to figure out shn or hsn or whatever the dead shows on archive.org are. learning curve, my foot.

Yeah Jamman, that is a cool site. I was able to listen to some cool ABB stuff, but when it came to D&D 12/01/70, it wouldn't work for me. I have a mac with a window media player 9 for mac. Maybe that has something to do with it. Any mac-savvy folks that can help? The Sugarmegs homepage is extremely difficult to find "support" on.
Thanks. ____________________ I'm a hung up on dreams I'll never see |
