Hello to all my brothers and sisters!

I'm new to this board and trading, but a long time ABB fan. I'll soon be sharing the shows that so many of you are sharing with me, but for now I hope that some of you will appreciate this tip on a good deal for Fuju Japan CDRs.

I have been doing my homework and have learned that good media is needed to be a good trader. I understand now that's it's also for my own benefit to use good CDRs. Up until now I have always just used the cheapest generis discs I could find. Got a bad one every once in a while, but I didn't know any better.

I know there are several good brands, but I decided to give the Fuji Japan discs a try. On a tip from Libby I went to Eckerds to pick some up and found that they had the 30 disc spindles for advertised for $7.99 with a $2.00 rebate. Seems like a good deal to me, so I wanted to share it with all of you. (My sale rang up at $7.49) I'm not sure if this is all Eckerds everywhere, but maybe it will help someone out.

Beware the 50 disc spindle at Eckerds was made in Taiwan.

Sharin the Love,
James

Hey James, welcome!

James just lives up the higway a piece from me, so y'all show him some love!

I've used several different media over the years. I like several brands.... Fuji-Japan, of course, which was my preference until they became difficult to find. I also like TDK, Sony Supremas and Maxell silvers and golds. Alot of folks here use Ty's , I do sometimes as well, but I'm usually running through a spindle so fast that I stick with Maxell silvers which I can grab quickly at Office Depot. They often run a B1G1 special.

My Eckerds has a nice stock of Fuji-Japans $9.99/30.... they also have Fuji-DVD blanks+/- for $7.99/15 spindle.

While we are on the topic...

I have found TY (or so they claim) on Ebay for little $. I see one auction (item number 6024180503) for 600 TY discs for only 121.00. Are these the real deal?

I would like to get a hold of one and run it through CDIdentifier to see if it shows up as a TY. I s'pose that if these guys are knocking off unbranded copies that they may be able to put the correct ID header on the disc to fool such programs.

The seller does have a 100% feedback rating though.

Anyone have experience with the Ebay version?

The Best Buy here in Chino has Fuji 50 pack japan discs for 15.00. I don't understand why they are so hard to find.

For my consumer/standalone burner, my Pioneer, I have been going to Sams Club where I can buy a 75 count spindle of Gold Maxell discs for about $16.99 plus tax. I had the receipt here on the desk but now I don't see it. Anyway, for the standalone burner they are a good buy, and I've had no problems at all with them. The disc I hate nowadays though is the EVIL Ty Yuden, what with her slick shiny and easily damaged ways. The Evil Ty Yuden is diabolical I tell ya. And if I ever see her a walkin' down the street, I'll just STAND BACK, and try to move away SLOWLY.

I know you hate Taiyo Yuden's disc by your many posts but most of Japnaese made CD-R/DVD-R discs are OEM of Taiyo Yuden, did you know that?
Also I think most of Japanese traders use Taiyo Yuden's disc for its reliability.
By my small experience, there were no troubles with TY discs of reading, but some Taiwan made discs could be read only by Pioneer drive....
I heard that some bogas TY discs have been circulated, so can't you think you've got these bogas one?

I went out today and bought some what I thought were Japanese Fujis. I made sure to not get Taiwanese as I know many people hate them. When I opened the packages up I found: Made in Malaysia. Are these any good? They weren't very cheap. Does anyone know if these are as bad as the Taiwanese ones?

Sal, you best look a little closer at the label. Best Buy here in the eastern U.S. has not had Japanese Fuji 50 paks in almost a year. They were $19.99 to boot.

Sal, they're hard to come by here. While taking a close look at those 50 paks, they stated, "Made in Malaysia"...... Folks, if you'll look on the label, there is very fine print that says "Made in Japan", that is the only way to tell, basically.

I keep Ty's on hand because some folks won't trade for any other brand of media. Personally, there's alot of good media out there. BUT NOT MEMOREX!

I really, really like Maxell Silvers or Golds... I burn the majority of freebies I offer on Sony Supremas.

The 50 pack Fujis at Eckerds were from Taiwan. They were also in a yellow or gold colored package where the 30 pack was in a blue package and said made in Japan on both the packaging and the disc. I was at Kmart this afternoon and all of their Fujis were from Taiwan, 50s and 30s... and the 30s were in the blue packaging, but still said made in Taiwan. I guess you just have to look close. So far though, every package I have looked at stated the country of manufacture on the packaging. The 30 pak Fujis at my Eckerds were a bit hard to find though, they had placed the security label over the Made In Japan designation! I found it by removing the security label. It's OK, the store manager was right there with me. He was interested in the discs as he was just getting into burning some "greatest hits" from his collection to listen to in the car. He bought a spindle of the Fujis, too. I went back and bought two more today. Just have to get a couple of friends to receive the rebate for me. $6.01 for 30 after rebate seemed pretty good to me. I guess I'll buy a spindle of TYs too, for those who ask for them by name. I'm trying to play nice and get along with others!

Peace,
JAmes

Another easy way to tell TY from Taiwan Fuji is the "paper label" on the top of the spindle.
If it has one, its a Jap. If not, its Tai.
Hope this helps!!

I'm well aware of the Taiwan 50 packs. I ckecked the label before buying and they were made in Japan, and yes I know it's very rare to see 50 packs of Japanese Fuji disks anymore.

Merry Christmas to all,

Sal
