I was told today by someone here that I am pushey, due to the fact that I have not recieved what I was told that would be sent over 3 months ago. Furthermore, This person has actually given me hard dates as to when he sent the pkg but it has never arrived and the storey keeps changing. Now he says that he just does'nt want to trade with me anymore, but what he does'nt understand is that everything I have ever sent him has be freebies!
Am I wrong! But it just pisses the hell out of me to think that someone here, who is an active member is **** ing me!
Please! Anyone here let me know if i'm wrong?
What's your opinion Frank ?

I don't see it as right or wrong..... there are great traders.... & then there are a-holes. Different with everybody, as one a-hole can be a great trader to another. And vice versa.

Either way, 3 months is too long for any trade or b&p. If it isn't completed by then, it will NEVER be completed.

From my view, if a package isn't received for some unknown reason, the sender SHOULD resend the contents of what was agreed upon until it gets there in the mail. If something I sent is screwed up once, twice.... don't matter, I should keep sending it until the thing gets to its destination.

I've had instances where people have pissed me off in regards to this stuff, but that is another story....

All in all, it's usually smooth. Usually, a failure to coommunicate, but there are always exceptions.

More or less, you & Frank should never deal with each other again.[Edited on 11/21/2002 by finsky]

Since he brought it out in the open (very cowardly, I might ad), it wasn't a trade or a B&P...

I have the video for the Allmans MTV Unplugged that I want to circulate. The thing is, I don't have a way to copy videos as of yet. I offered to mail it to Clay so he could copy it and send it back to me. That was a few months ago.

I also had taken him up on a few B&P offers, and since I was new to trading at the time, I didn't thinking it would be a problem for me to wait and send them all together (now, of course, I know better)... So, that's what I did... I was going to send everything as one big package.

In the interim, he became very impatient and I decided to call the whole thing off. A few weeks ago, my best friend brought his VCR over and I made a copy of it, to mail to Clay despite his constant prodding. I mailed it out about a week and a half ago.

That's all I have to say on this subject. I'd like to commend Clay on his maturity.

Frank, I hate like hell to do this but it's time you learn a lesson. You have lied to me on more than several ocassions and i'm sick of it. If you ever want people to deal with you, you had best better do what the hell you say you're going to do.
What's funny is that I have had problems with only two people here, You and Dean Long. That's some good company your running with.
Again, I hate to do this but it's time you learn how to trade correctly!

No you are not wrong Clay.......

There is no sense to it...making a mistake is one thing...but misleading someone is another.

I would forget about it and refuse to trade, freebie etc with that person anymore. It's not worth the hassle.

As good as you are and have been about turning folks on to great music.....your the last person here that should get screwed over.

This place has some mighty fine people...if I ever short anyone..it's a mistake...and it will be made up (and folks here I hope know that).

If I ever do any of you wrong or forget about you...you let me know..asap...and it will be fixed.

I love doing things to make folks happy as much as I love getting the shows.....

I would too...I know Clay as a friend away from this place. The man is as good as his word. He's a friend to me...not just a posting friend. He's always came through in anything he's said and more. And Cowardly does not describe him...at all.

On one occasion I e-mailed Frank about his trading 'style' and gave him some tips, I have traded with him since with no problems. I say he is a newbie cut him a little slack but then again I don't know the situation between him and Clay. On that note I have nothing but praise for Clay. I have traded, B&P'ed with Clay more than anyone else, and he has always been very kind, Clay is a stand up guy in my book and between him and the Cap't some mighty fine music has circulated here. Just my opinion.

Peace,
Joe

As I said in the PM clay (where this should have been kept), this WASN'T a trade... It was a mutual favor that was misconstrued along the way... I have been a part of a good 50/60 trades over the last 2 months, and they have gone off without a hitch. Every last one of them.

Again, this wasn't a trade. IT WASN'T A TRADE!

The funny part of all this is that the damn tape is in the mail.

I'm not trying to be part of a new war here...we don't need that.

Communication is the key...when a problem arises...and they do sometimes...I held up some folks a month on a B&P one time....because the show had a missing disc. I got with them, and came through for them. And they all got some kind of make up show bonuses too.

Bottom line..treat and trade the way you want to be done yourself and COMMUNICATE WITH HONESTY.

And there should not be any problems...

And I will hush with that..........

Kenny

And no Clay...your not a Pushey..haha

Kenny... should I lie? Should I say "Clay, I never mailed it out because I am jerk and I got one over on you?"

If I did, that would be lying, because THE TAPE IS THE IN GODDAMN MAIL!!!

You are an example of someone who I owe something to who isn't all in my face about it. I owe you the unreleased Dickey album, but it's taking me some time to master it. I told you that and you accepted it. That's that.

Another trade I was involved in had a missed disc. I got it out to her 2 days later, and it's done...

Only here is this a huge issue, and it's because I believe he's upset at something (God knows what) else that I did, or just because he's cranky. Who knows?

All I know is that I explained the problem to him and mailed the tape out. It's not even as if I owed it to him. I just told him I'd mail him a copy so he could burn one and send it back. It's not like a trade was involved or anything...

Geez. The Christ complex that we give some people around here is unreal.

Frank,

I have had nothing but qood quick transactions with Clay. On the other hand I have sent two packages your way and have not gotten a response from you as to whether you rec'd them or anything indicating you have mailed mine. One of the packages I sent you was on the Give/Take thread and I sent you two shows (7 discs) for one show (4 discs).

I hope you have mailed mine, but I think you will learn fast that if you don't do what you say around here your sources of music will dry up fast.

Again, Jimmy... Your show is in the mail.

You know, I've just about had it trading. If Clay is happy, he wins...

I am done.

Not to be Frank bashing, but I had a problem w/my last package I received from Frank. I notified him and he gave me a quick response and said he would take care of it. I have not seen the package, yet. I am always willing to give the benefit of the doubt to people, but I did notice that he failed to mention it in any of the examples above. I am sure it was just an oversight.

I personally do not consider any one who had made trades over a 2 month period a "newbie".

Mistakes are made, delays are always occuring. Communications is the key to all trades.

A man is only as good as his word.

Clay, I've never traded with someone more condescending and pushey than you. It's all about you- you enjoyed the trade; you are happy to hook folks up; it was your pleasure. Sheesh, you'd think some folks would be content just to spread the music.

Perhaps some of the newbies here on the site should actually take a look at the Mcnichols link in the newbie section. There is a reason why it's been posted there, and there is a number of reasons why folks want newbies to check it out. Following the recommendations on that site will help alleviate all of the issues that have popped up here lately. It not only covers the issues of proper packaging and postage and the like, but also advises what is considered proper etiquette in trading. I realize it's dry reading, but when I discovered it shortly after I started trading, I was able to remedy the things I was doing wrong in short order. I've never had anyone ever come back to me and complain that something wasn't right that wasn't a genuine mistake. Granted we all make mistakes, but if certain protocols are followed, there is less likelyhood of them occurring.

Well put TN. I would like to add this: Every so often, when I get home after a tough day dealing the the politicians at the Senate, I find a package in the mail from Clay. In it there are at least 4 cd's, none of which I requested, that Clay has graciously burned and sent to me at his expense. He didn't have to include me on the mailing list but I am damn glad he does. I can only go by the dealings I have had with Clay since my arrival here. He has ALWAYS done me right and gone above and beyond on most occasions.

Unfortunately , I haven't had the fortune of being on the receving end of any of Clay's offers, but in just the few months that I've been here, I have seen the volume of shows that Clay sends out - very impressive and generous!

I did receive a freebie show from Frank this week that arrived promptly, and we also traded some shows that I'm sure will arrive in due time. Judging by his volume posts in this forum, he seems to be quite busy!

Although in varying degrees, it seems you both do your part in sharing the music, and it appears to be widely appreciated by myself & others on the forum. Keep it up, guys!
