Found this on the web. It's a free download of Sam Samudio doing Me and Bobby McGee with Duane Allman on slide dobro

Thanks Very very cool. Are we sure it's Duane? It sounds like him, but you never know.

I think it's pretty likely it's Duane, for two reasons. First, Duane was on Sam's album Hard and Heavy, playing onRelativity and on John Lee Hooker's Goin' Upstairs (the second is on the first Duane anthology). Second, the Dobro playing here sounds a lot like Duane's playing on the albums he recorded with Ronnie Hawkins.

Of course, that doesn't mean it's Duane. I made a mistake once before--I thought I was wrong about something and it turned out I wasn't.

And therein lies the purpose of this forum; to elicit others opinions so that we may all gain a clearer sense of the issues at hand.

oh it is Duane...my understanding is that Sam was recording this at the same time Derek and the Dominoes were at criteria studios and they heard Sam doing Key to the highway and then went with it....

I also feel certain it is Duane. I had a listen to Sam's "Key to the Highway" and Derek & the Dominos sure did a better and more accurate version. Sam changed the chord progression too much on his "Key to the Highway".

Sam told me himself about the recording before I ever heard about it. He thought it was the best one of the three tunes he did with Duane, and that Atlantic pulled the single after Janis did her version. He thought it was very "soulful", is how he described it to me. Definately Duane!

Oh, I'm pretty sure! And pretty excited! The lick after the word "free" in the first chorus is "typical" of Duane Allman. Thanks Marionsindorf!

Uh, any Mac users out there? I've downloaded music before, but all I get with this track is one second. Doesn't really matter as long as it stays on the web and I have a computer, but if there's and easy solution, let me know. Thanks

Hi Steve,

I'm Mac user but not try to download this tune yet. How did you do to download?
Can it be done with "Control-key + click" and select "download to disc" from popup menu?
I will try it when I back home and post again, because I'm in offce now.

I post from time to time as a Guitar palyer...I love this Music we call the Allman Brothers. Hearing Statesboro when I was in High school was enough for me to aquire a Guitar. For 32 years I have been "Attempting" to understand his approach to slide. It is a Concentrated style. In this Humble Guitar players opinion, Duane Was a finger-picking slide player who dampened with the heel of his palm. As you listen to Duane and then pick up a Guitar and feel the music...You instinctly begin to know how he approached each note. From the flat side of the note. The guitar takes on the quality of a harp. You attack each note. You can coax Duane like Qualities out of your Instrument. .....This is Definitely Duane Allman And what a Joy to hear new Duane Material..Thanks
