What songs do you look forward to hearing during the holiday season?
They can be traditional or other versions, or new songs.

Here's a couple:

"Santa Clause is Coming to Town" Bruce Springsteen

"Please Come Home for Christmas" Eagles

I've heard that's a good CD. :-)
I love to hear Chuck play anything, pretty much.

The title track from the new Mark Knopfler album, "Ragpickers Dream" could be construed as a Christmas song.

hmmm, well not really a sentimental Xmas song, still lots of fun

Clarence Carter-Back Door Santa---it's on the same disc/lp with King Curtis and Duane Allman holiday tunes

Otis Redding does a great soul Xmas tune as well

On the other side, I really don't enjoy Xmas for a variety of reasons, but the one tune that means anything to me personally is "I'll be home for Christmas" with its sad ending refrain---"If only in my dreams"

Alligator Records put out a Christmas sampler a few years back (forget the title, but I have it). There are some great bluesy Christmas jams on that!

That's easy: I Believe in Father Christmas, by Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

It's pretty dark, but the instrumentation is very pleasant, and Greg Lake is probably my favorite male singer

"Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell
The Christmas you get you deserve."

I also dig a good deal of that Mannheim Steamroller stuff, and I would love to get ahold of Jon Anderson's "Three Ships" album . . . the only place I can find it is on Ebay for like 45 bucks, and I'm not spending that. Anyone have it? Maybe we can work a deal.

Several good ones. I've always enjoyed Neil Diamond's "Jingle Bell Rock", the Band's "Christmas Must Be Tonight", and of course "Snoopy & the Red Baron".....that song IS Christmas!

Carlos, it was just one of those personal things ya know, kind of like getting a Dear John letter @ Xmas time in Chu Lai Vietnam accompanied by a tape of Linda Ronstadt singing "Different Drum" It was just what the hell I needed at Christmas to turn me into a Jungle Grinch for the rest of my tour. Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men (and gals, except Linda Ronstadt and one of her "fans" back in 1969)

My favorite song is "Holy **** , It's Christmas" by Red Peters. Hands down the funniest Holiday song out there.

Otherwise, I really like the cds "Merry Axemas" One and Two and any of the 3 Gary Hoey "Ho, Ho, Hoey" discs. All of them are kickin' guitar renditions of all your favorite Christmas songs.

Yall have named most of my favorites #1 for me I think is the ELP tune and there are 2 versions out there and the only copy I can find of the one I like best is a tape off the radio.

Other favs (already Mentioned)

War Is Over - John Lennon
Santa Clause is Comming.. - The Boss
Please Come Home for.. -The Eagles

I also dig Bob Seger or Joan Jett (forgive me) on Little Drummer Boy

Oh and The Anne Lenox from the Eurythmic (yall may kill me) does a great Walking in a Winter Wonderland

Local Radio Station likes to play their version called "Walkin Round in Womens Underware" it's hillarious.

My Wife (and I) also really like.... "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas" cute tune that sticks with you.

Stevie Wonder has some good ones.

Motown Christmas I love it. I better stop before my membership is revoked!

I don't know the name of it, but the Ray Charles tune from Christmas Vacation... that's right, the one and only Griswold family Christmas,
"'Tis the season to be merry."
"Well, that's my name."
"No **** !"

But the song's the one where he's watching the old reels in the the attic:

something about "laughter and cheer,
what a wonderful feel-lin'
Chrismas is the time of year....
singin' songs about Jesus"

or something thereabouts
