Perhaps the Nature Boy was upset that the WWE is now going to test for painkillers.

Judging from this mug shot, how many times do you think Flair bladed in the match with HHH Sunday? Four? Five?

Survivor Series Match-by-Match results (from the Wrestling Observer)

Juventud pinned Simon Dean with a Juvi driver in the Heat match. It was a non-title bout. The Mexicools stole Dean's gym bag to distract him. Juventud has learned to work WWE style. So he's useless.

Booker T vs. Chris Benoit for the U.S. title opens the show. This match needs to be good given the line-up tonight. Booker won this one with an Oklahoma side roll with Sharmell holding Booker's legs and him also using the ropes for leverage. Good opener.

Match two will be live on the Smackdown special Tuesday night from Cincinnati.

Bischoff and Vince were backstage. Eric promised to screw John Cena just like Vince screwed Bret Hart. Cena was right there when he said it and made a comment about how Eric likes screwing guys. Vince tried to act like he was into hip hop and used the term "nigga" while Booker watched and was furious, saying "Tell me, he just didn't say that."

Trish Stratus vs. Melina is up now. Mickie James is with Stratus. Tazz & Styles are announcing together, so this will probably be the best announced match on the show. Tazz & Styles spent the match arguing Raw vs. Smackdown. Stratus won with a facebuster off the top rope after minor help by Mickie James. She moved Stratus out of the way from an attempted tackle by Melina just before the finish. Match was good based on usual WWE women's match standards.

HHH vs. Ric Flair is up next. They went 27:00. Flair juiced heavy the entire match with HHH using a screwdriver on him. HHH took a backdrop through the table. Slow-paced but dramatic. Went a little long but real good. Flair got up after three pedigrees, but HHH used a sledge hammer to the back of the head for the ten count. Flair went out on a stretcher. They are acting like this was the end of Flair.

Orton & JBL were badmouthing Batista, but Batista showed up and said he should be the leader. Rey agreed. JBL got mad and wanted to be the leader but then backed down. Lashley agreed to side with Batista. Finally Orton sarcastically backed Batista.

Edge debuted the new Cutting Edge talk show with Dmitri Young of the Tigers. Edge ripped on the Tigers and baseball players for being overpaid, not caring about the fans, taking steroids and amphetamines. Really, he did. Young then brought up all the championships that the Pistons, Tigers and Red Wings had won. Young said Edge had no balls and Edge said he was going to be like GM and Ford, he was leaving Detroit. Pretty good segment and Young did a good job in the celebrity role.

Angle vs. Cena is up next. Wow, this was weird. Daivari, Chad Patton and Mickey Henson were all KO'd, Daivari by Cena and Pattona and Henson by Angle. Charles Robinson of Smackdown ran in as ref and gave Angle an FU and got the pin. As you can tell, a ton of shortcuts but Angle wrestled well. Crowd was electric because no matter what Angle did to be a heel, the crowd got more and more behind him as the match went on. Cena really showed it in his face when he did the five knuckle shuffle and he was booed out of the place.

Eric vs. Teddy is up. The Boogey Man gave Bischoff a pump handle slam behind the refs back and Teddy got the pin. This died. Crowd booed the whole match, run-in, everything. You knew it was bad when Teddy came out and climbed the ropes and got booed. Boring chants from the start. Only thing good I can say is this wasn't as bad as the Richards-Tomko match.

Raw vs. Smackdown elimination match is up next. Kane choke slamemd Lashley and Michaels pinned him. Yes, you read that correctly. Batista pinned Kane after a spinebuster after cleaning house. Kane didn't leave and he and Show double choke slammed Batista for the pin. Show was next out after a JBL clothesline, a 619, an RKO, another JBL clothesline and a springboard Thesz press, so Rey pinned Show to set up Tuesday. JBL pinned Carlito after a clothesline. Mysterio pinned Masters after a springboard legdrop. Masters was way out of position.

Michaels is selling like he's knocked out and he's left with JBL, Mysterio & Orton. Michaels just pinned Mysterio and then JBL in succession with superkicks so it's Orton vs. Michaels. JBL interfered with a chair but Michaels superkicked the chair into JBL's face. He turned around into the RKO and Orton pinned him clean to win the match for Smackdown.

Time for the Undertaker. Druids brought out a casket. Lightning struck the casket and Undertaker came out. Orton and Cowboy Bob ran off while Undertaker beat up Brian Kendrick, The Dicks, Regal, Birchall and a bunch of others, leaving Undertaker eyeing Randy Orton as the show ended. Not sure if this was the right week to use a casket, but this company has never been the best about letting real world events stop what would be tasteless timing of angles.

Junior's All-Wrestling Christmas (a combination of my wife and I, grandma, an aunt, and an uncle):

Grandma:
Tickets to Raw in April, John Cena shirt

Aunt:
Real wrestling boots

Uncle - who spent a ridiculous amount of money:
John Cena footbal jersey, Cena lock medalion, visor, wristbands
Brett Hart DVD

Parents:
Rey Mysterio pants and shirt, Eddie Guerrero memorial shirt, Showdown: Legends of Wrestling for PS2, Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 for PS2, NWO Red and Black attack laminated poster, Hart Foundation action figure three-pack.

He also got some small, non-wrestling gifts, and a super cool, high-tech hot wheels race track that I've been having LOTS of fun playing with

I just have to throw my opinion in here. John Cena needs to be taken down. I'm sick and tired of him. Eugene will be the next champ.

The WWE is certainly has a problem with Cena. The audience is spilt down the middle - men hate him, women and kids love him. That's a real business problem because men buy the tickets, but women and kids buy the merchandise. They never expected such a backlash I'm sure, and the recent Kurt Angle "I hate the troops" program is a desparate attempt to give Cena an opponent that the fans can't help but boo. (Although this approach with Angle is silly and way too contrived in the delivery, IMO) Personally, I think Cena gets kind of a bad rap when it comes to the kind of worker he is, but, for the top guy, that's not always that important. Being a bad wrestler certainly never hurt Hulk Hogan.

Well, I hope Cena is still at or near the top when we go see RAW in April. It would break Junior's heart to go there in all his Cena gear and have The Champ be demoted to punk status.

That was some Christmas your son had. When I read his list of gifts, I got jealous!

Cena - wow...some blade job last night, huh? Sick. Anyway, I still think he'll retain this Sunday, the current plan is to start the HHH-Cena program pretty soon. The HHH-Big Show angle is just filler. Come April, the Raw in Chicago is of course the night after Wrestlemania, and, I don't know about anyone else here, but I just can't see HHH doing the job in the Mania main event three years in a row....I'm feeling that the whole weekend will be built around HHH winning the WWE Title back...

We have a new WWE Champion....Edge.

WWE New Year's Revolution match-by-match PPV coverage

by Dave Meltzer

Welcome to our live coverage of tonight's New Year's Revolution PPV from the Pepsi Center in Albany, New York.

Chavo Guerrero beat Snitsky with a frog splash in the Heat match.

Kurt Angle did a funny promo saying he wanted Iraq to win the War, that his favorite country is France, that he doesn't like black people and would like to put the ankle lock on Jesus Christ. He said he could say all that and the people will still cheer him tonight. And it sounded like they were cheering him.

Ric Flair beat Edge to keep the IC title via DQ. Flair had Lita in the figure four when Edge hit Flair twice with the briefcase for the DQ. Edge hit him a third time with the briefcase and Flair bled heavily. Short match which didn't amount to much. Edge was being really careful out there. They also blew off the feud as Edge said he wasn't interested in wrestling Flair anymore.

Trish Stratus pinned Micki James with the chick kick. They did nothing to advance the angle. Just did a match and a finish. Decent.

Jerry Lawler (who got no pop coming out, which isn't a good sign) vs. Gregory Helms is up now. Helms crotched himself on the top rope and Lawler got the pin with a fist drop. Lawler looked heavy. Typical Lawler good psychology. Nobody was into the feud. Too short a build to make this sort of a thing work. Crowd cheered Lawler for winning but didn't react to the match.

We did have some Micki James-Stratus follow-up. James was coming on to her in the interview area.

Mrs. Benjamin is in catering eating away. And Viscera has already shown up. Wow, I expected them to wait at least three weeks for this. She blew him off. I have a feeling we're getting Shelton vs. Viscera. Viscera is now eating at catering.

HHH vs. Big Show is up next. Long, plodding match without much heat. After a ref bump, Show tried a left handled choke slam and HHH hit Show with the sledge hammer and used a half-a$$ pedigree for the pin. They told a story working on Show's right hand, taking off the cast and hitting it with a chair. Show blew up bad halfway into the match and was having trouble just moving from that point on. Fans ended up turning on Show and cheering HHH by the end, which wasn't the idea.

With just a bra & panties match and possibly Benjamin vs. Viscera, the elimination chamber is going to have to take a career performannce by some guys to turn this around.

Carlito and Masters said they are going to work together to win the chamber.

Guess what, we've got Benjamin vs. Viscera coming. This match died worse than any PPV match since Stevie Richards and Tyson Tomko in 2004. Mama hit Viscera with her purse twice and Benjamin won with a spin kick. Benjamin worked as the heel but I don't think anyone even caught that. Fans cheered him very lightly when he won, probably more just happy this was over. I don't care if Edge has a torn pec, think about the time management of giving these guys more time than Flair and Edge?

At this point, we need are pretty close to needing Angle-Michaels at Wrestlemania to even get a thumbs in the middle. This show is dying.

This didn't help. Ashley won. Candice vs. Maria saw Maria win. Then Torrie Wilson came out and Maria stripped her. Then Victoria came out and stripped Maria. Maria got booed for wearing conservative panties. Mae Young & Moolah came out. It got weird to say the least. Mae stripped. Seriously, they were turning men Gay by the hundreds. Moolah held Victoria so Mae tried to take Victoria's top off. Somehow this got screwed up as Victoria had two bras on so one was supposed to come off, but they got caught. What a mess. Anyway, finally Moolah and Mae just left. Ashley came in, took off Victoria's shorts in seconds and won. Ashley then stripped.

I hope Shawn went to church this morning because he's going to need divine intervention to make this a good show. They booed Cena out of the place. He sure came out with an "I'm losing the title face." We'll see if he's a great actor or not in a half hour but he wasn't playing to the crowd at all. Angle even played face the most of anyone so far. Obviously the story of the match is Shawn, starting first and probably going until the end. Angle was by far the crowd favorite and even worked as a face. Crowd hates Cena as he's working heel style. Michaels superkicked and pinned Angle. People were very unhappy about that and now they're dead. Carlito & Masters both pinned Kane after Masters press slammed him. Carlito used his neckbreaker to pin Michaels. Dear God Vince didn't even screw him, he lost on his own. Who is booking this? Cena is left with Carlito and Masters and being booed out of the building. Carlito told Masters to put Cena in the Masterlock. Carlito then gave Masters a low blow and pinned him. Cena schoolboyed Carlito. Cena got a big pop in winning, but Vince came out and mentioned Cena winning and fans booed.

Cena vs. Edge for the WWE title is next. Money in the bank time. 2 spears and a title change in 1:46. Mixed reaction.

Oh, it was sooooo...dumb. From a recap:

quote:
Edge bragged about being smart and winning the title. They aired a video package of Edge highlights. Edge and Lita stripped down, crawled in bed, and started to presumably have sex. Ric Flair came out and called Edge a disgrace to the title and dead in the bed. He vowed to show Lita how it’s done and attacked Edge. Edge hit Flair with a chair and gave him a one man concerto. John Cena made the save. He gave Lita the FU after Edge wouldn’t come back.

I'm a little late to the game here but Magnum TA is absolutley my all time favorite. The Belly-to-belly souplex is the greatest finishing move of all time. Loved watching his matches v. Nikita Kolof. Man, those old TBS NWA days were awesome!

On a related note for us ATLiens, what's up with hearing Tony Schivone on WSB radio. I crack up everytime I hear him do "serious" sports and keep thinking he's gonna say "there's pandemonium in the ring ladies and gentleman" lol.

Also, going way, way back, does anybody remember Ray Candy/Ray Canty/Kareem Muhammed (all the same guy)?? I used to work with his wife and she had some great old pictures of him. He was huge and she was just a little thing. Pretty funny. I think he was the first black Georiga heavyweight champion.

I've been watching the WWE/WWF off and on for about 20 years now. Normally I can tolerate all of the outrageousness.

However, we have to get rid of this Boogeyman moron. How do I contribute to making that happen?

Those negotiations fell through due to Lesnar's ridiculous demands to return, including getting one of the top titles back within two months of coming back, $2 million a year guaranteed (a major pipe dream) and he even wanted his own plane, being that the travel schedule is what drove him insane the first go-round. The court battles continue, as WWE is still under the notion that they can hold a guy to a ten-year non-complete anywhere in the world. As a matter of fact, there was an update on the legal proceedings on Friday:

quote:
--Judge Christopher Droney has indicated that unless WWE gives him a good argument between now and 1/25, that he will rule in favor of Brock Lesnar, giving him a summary judgement. That would enable Lesnar to work anywhere he wanted and for anyone he wanted immediately. WWE has filed another injunction attempt to prevent Lesnar from working the 2/19 New Japan show at Sumo Hall. They were at first turned down in their attempt to get him stopped from working the Tokyo Dome, but were given a hearing, which they then pulled out of.

Having Lesnar as their IWGP Champ is the best thing New Japan has going, and he's been doing 5 and 6 minute matches where he just dominates. WWE owns the rights to the name "F-5," so Lesnar now call his finisher "The Verdict."

quote:

Don't worry. The gimmick will become stale and he will fade away, given the fact that the guy absolutely cannot wrestle. At all. He's the 2006 Eugene (who is not totally out of rehab yet as previously reported and still has alot of internal heat on him for what went down), Boogeyman will not be around forever. What an incredible look, though.
