the local underground paper has a review of the Stones visit to Columbus this past weekend...with this in the story:

"Better were 'She's So Cold' and two tracks from the band's new record, 'Rough Justice' and 'Back of My Hand,' which featured Jagger showing off his slide guitar skills."

hmmmmmmmm......I guess they did find a replacment for Mick Taylor

I didn't go to the show, but can anyone verify that Jagger is now playing slide?

Cheers

Carlos "What's next, lead?" Rivera

His name is Ron Wood, formerly of the Faces. He joined the Rolling Stones 30 years ago.

Nonetheless, I am curious if Mick (Jagger) has recently been playing slide guitar.

Mick plays slide on "Back of my hand" from the new record.

the rest of the slide work is Ronnie.

Mick also played some bass on the new record.

So, when does Mick join the ABB for a triple with Derek and Oteil?

Cheers

Carlos "and yes, I am very well aware that Ronnie was Taylor's pale replacement" Rivera

"Ronnie was Taylor's pale replacement"

AMEN to that. I've seen some of the 40 Licks DVDs released a couple of years ago and Wood's guitar playing, especially slide, was BRUTAL....and not in a good way.

Jagger is credited for slide guitar on a couple of songs on the new album and he plays bass on about 6 or 7 tunes. What else does he have to do all day, he has had 40+ years to learn any instrument he wants.

He actually does a creditable job on Back of My Hand.

Blues is all about emotion, not technical proficiency, in case you all forgot...

proficiency helps you to play what you feel.

can't channel emotion if you don't have the skill to play it.

You always have to get the last word in, don't you, Wott?

Let me ask you a question: are you ever wrong?
