Don Adams of 'Get Smart' Dies at 82
By BOB THOMAS, Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES - Don Adams, the wry-voiced comedian who starred as the fumbling secret agent Maxwell Smart in the 1960s television spoof of James Bond movies, "Get Smart," has died. He was 82.

Adams died of a lung infection late Sunday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, his friend and former agent Bruce Tufeld said Monday, adding the actor broke his hip a year ago and had been in ill health since.

--------anyone old enough to remember "Lancelot Link" and his faithful sidekick Mata Hari?

Cheers

RIP, Don Adams

I think of Get Smart everytime I walk through the set of three doorways in my office building...so reminiscent.

I remember Lancelot Link and Tennessee Tuxedo too.

He was also the voice of the coach in Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. (Remember, the one with the red baseball cap?)

In later years he was the voice of Inspector Gadget.

I got to bet on a few hosses with Don Adams on my one and only trip to Santa Anita in 1988. Nice man. Rest in peace.

That was one of my favorite shows during the spy-crazy days of the mid-'60s. There was a time when James Bond was my favorite movie secret agent, Napoleon Solo my favorite TV secret agent, and Maxwell Smart my favorite funny secret agent.

.

Yeah, Lancelot Link and Tennesse Tuxedo were great, too! I don't see Don as a voice actor for the former, though:
"Plot Outline: A member of pop band Evolution Revolution, Lancelot Link is called upon by the Agency to Prevent Evil (APE), in their ongoing fight against CHUMP."

It did have Mel Blanc, though, plus Bernie Kopell, who was on Get Smart.

Thanks, Don!

I didn't watch a lot of television as a kid, but I never missed "Get Smart". Don Adams was so funny, and Barbara Feldon made me have ... funny dreams. Co-written by Buck Henry. Thanks for the laughs 86!

Does anyone remember the "Get Smart" movie called the "The Nude Bomb"? It was really funny from what I remember. I think I'll try to get a copy to watch this week as an homage to Don.

Does anyone remember the early days of FoxTV? They had a horrible sit-com called "Get Smart Returns" (or something like that). It featured Andy Dick as Maxwell Smart's son. Max was now "The Chief".
