A couple of things jumped out at me last night.

1) Power trios kick ass

2) Mike Mattison! Mike Mattison! Mike Mattison! This guy can sing anything, anytime, anywhere, anyhow....just awesome. His "As the Years go Passing By", was just AMAZING.

3) Dave Stoltz is a PLAYER! Why would Dickey let a guy so talented, who might be the nicest human being on the planet, go?

4) Rico is the man. Love seeing him rock out with Yosi.

5) Fans of DTB and ABB just get it. Good music is good music, regardless of language or lyric.

6) Mitzvah, and Yaala Moshiach have some of the coolest guitar riffs ever. (wait for Gatto's tape on the archive)

7) Yosi Piamenta is a one man Jimi Hendrix appreciation society.....lol.

8) Mexicali Blues is a GREAT venue for live music. Support this place people's........

Thanks for everyone who came out....

Sounds like a great time!

I agree whole-heartedly with point 2. Mike is amazing.

I bet Dave was smiling big time. Glad he was called onboard. He is a real jewel. His wife is a super sweetie, too!

I know logistics are tough but how often do you think this combo will get together? Was this just a one off thing?

I certainly hope so. Dave was just great. Mike opened the show with an acappela Hallelujah.........and it got better, and rocked harder as the night moved along.

With Rico and Mike in Atlanta it'll take some doing but when DTB is not on the road or in the studio....why not? Just really great musicians, and great people rocking out and having a heck of a time. The guys might even enjoy it more than, we the fans!

Fun stuff...

I agree 1000%...just an amazing vocalist...and a wonderful stage presence to boot.

Another good point. Dave is a fine player and an awfully nice guy...these are thet types of people you hold onto for life. Why would Dickey him go?...he was a great fit for Dickey's sound - a solid bottom end, a real gem IMO...

Dave is a great guy and a fine musician. However, if you've heard Dickey's band with Pedro on bass I think you'll agree that the kid is a monster musician and that his style of play is a little more suited to what DB is doing. Nothing against Dave but Pedro kicks ass.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself but one corection needs to be made

Rico IS NOT THE MAN. Rico is not even "A" MAN as far as I'm concerned

From my point of view Rico cares about Rico and seemingly has a lot of trouble putting that aside for things that are really important.

Mike Mattison is a true find for any vocalist (and a hell of a nice person at that). As far as Yonrico, what gives KC? I've known Rico for the past 10 years and I've never seen him have a bad word or vibe for anyone. He is one of the most kind people I've ever encountered in my life. Always very gracious with his time at shows and treats everyone with the utmost respect. Everytime we see each other he always asks how my mom's doing health wise (she's 66 w/cancer) and how my 16 year old son is doing in school his guitar playing and of course his love life.
I agree with Sammy, very negative vibe for someone who is about as positive as they come.

What a great show! I missed the first couple of songs getting there a little late but when I did get there I got a surprise seeing Mitch and Sari I knew it would be a great night! Thank you both for surrounding me with love, and Dave and Kimberly too, you all are the best and just what I needed!
Okay on to the music, HJB is an ever changing display of talent with Yosi always there but I love to be able to hear him play with so many other musicians all the time. You really never know what to expect. I love Yosi's singing a little more every time I see one of his gigs, I don't understand it only feel it, but it is spiritual and he has a melody about his voice that warms my heart and soul.
Prescence of the Lord was truely beautiful. One of those songs that really gets through to your spirit, and Mike was outstanding on vocals! He is always wonderful to listen to, no matter where he sits in, or in his regular gigs.
We got a nice little bass solo from Dave too when Yosi was string fixing, with Rico backing him up for a little jam session. Dave sure looked great playing last night and it has been a long time since I caught one of his gigs, I sure hope he plays with Yosi again because they fit together playing incredibly.
Steve Gatto taper extraordinaire was there so this show will be out in circulation soon enough and I recommend you all get it, it is a keeper show for sure!
Saw DTBSETLISTS and the wife there and Rich who I see everywhere there is music.

Special thanks to Dave for everything. You have always been a great friend and neighbor and I love you and Mrs.Stoltz too!
For my road warriorette sisters Sari and Kimberly thank you for the moments we shared last night. You have been my musical sisters for a long time now and I know you always will be. See ya next time! ( never say goodbye)
SAMMYSPOP, I am so glad you found me there and we got to meet finally after many misses. It was the perfect time to meet new friends last night.
Mitch thanks for the seat! It is always kindness that shows through a man who gives up his seat for a friend.

Oh yeah and as for the negativity here, I will just repeat something here as subtle as a Mack truck and you can all take it as you wish...

"There ya go man, keep as cool as you can, face miles of trials with smiles, It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave....keep on thinkin free" Moody Blues

Jimmy, if you're going to castigate someone, state it with specifics, not innuendo. In other words, if you have a problem with someone, express it with examples or keep it to yourself.

That he is! I have noticed though at the past two shows I was lucky to go to, I am hearing the Jimi influence a lot more in his songs now, and every show we get at least one Jimi cover, which is great. Little Wing was a perfect selection last night, along with the other songs on the set list, Purple Haze just wouldn't have fit in there. You know?

I'm with you, Jimmy

Past that, I still think David Stoltz is a hell of a bass player and a nice guy on and off the stage, which is a good thing as not every musician is as they seem.

Pam, glad you had the fun you did.

Derek

You just have to hear it to really understand, it is not something you can explain into words. Very unique Yosi is, and he has a great gift he shares with us through his music and his singing. Every HJB line up is different too which makes it a great show every time.

Dave Stoltz is a champion! he kicks ass on the bass and he is gracious and generous with
whomever he meets. I'm sure Pedro is great too - my understanding is that dickey wanted his
band members to live near him in FLa and Dave lives in Conn. Dave still speaks very highly of
dickey - dave is first rate, classy - wish i could get him in my band!

on a side note... are any of you familiar with John Zorn? I got some Masada stuff recently and it's REALLY good... is anybody else familiar with him and his history... if he's still around?...
