Setlist:
Jessica
Statesboro Blues
Ain't Wastin Time
Rockin Horse
One Way Out
No One to Run With
Egypt
Dreams to Remember
Wasted Words
Midnight Rider
Dreams
Into the Mystic
Mountain Jam
Whipping Post (encore)

I have seen a lot of ABB shows since 1969 including almost every show they have ever done in Colorado and lots of Beacon shows and this one was one of the best. An awesome display by a great band. Played about 2:45 straight through without a break. It was pretty intense.

They played Mountain Jam in the mountains? That's odd

No problem. I have quite a few setlists that were scrawled in the dark either blindly or by the light of a bic.
This show we had the light of a beautiful full moon and the technology of my daughter Aleida's Blackberry to list the songs.
It was a gorgeous night and a special show.
It's a priviledge to live in Colorado and get to see the Brothers at the Rocks every summer.
Peace

I wish I could suck at writing songs like she does...I guess Bob Dylan and Neil Young suck too!

lucinda is awesome. we saw her back in august, susant t opened. the air was as hot and thick as you could ever imagine, it was hard enough to breathe let alone perform. lucinda kicked ass as did susan. she was even better in person then on her cds which is rarely the case with alot of performers. can't wait to see her again.

Mountain Jam at RR, that would have been worth a plane ticket right there. Man alive. Hope you all enjoyed it!

lucinda wishes she could write like bob dylan and neil young.

she reminds me of that scene in forest gump where the chick is playing guitar naked on stage for the military guys

Things still havent changed around here, have they?

Everyone has their own opinion, don't attack the fella for that.

No wonder so many never come back to the site.

Great show. Great night. Harvest moon rising over Red Rocks can't be beat. Truly a wonderful time.

Here's my two cents on Lucinda Williams. Just because someone tries to write songs like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, or Janic Joplin doesn't make them their equal. Lucinda's band was pretty good but her lyrics are like something from a bad movie. Her vocals are just terrible. I've seen her a couple times and she is always tedious. There are plenty of talented female performers out there. She isn't one of them.

If you get a chance to see a show at Red Rocks-go. I'm checking out Oasis there tonight and I am looking forward to it. Most of the outdoor shows I have been to were at the World outside Chicago or Nissan Pavillion outside Washington DC. Both places suck. Red Rocks is a treat. Plus you get a workout walking up and down the stairs.

Jessica, Egypt and Mountain Jam in the same show? That is an "A" setlist if I ever saw one!

I wouldn't say Lucinda sucks, she puts a lot of work into her songs and is a true artist. However, I have to admit she's one of those musicians that always leaves me feeling like I'm missing something. Some folks think she hung the moon, but she's never really done anything for me. Interesting to see that other folks feel the same way.

She's no Susan Tedeschi or Donna Hopkins, I'll leave it at that.

Sorry to chime in so late on this, just got back from my extended Red Rocks trip last night.

I wish I could even agree with Rob, but that would be fake of me.

I hate to put down any prolific artist, but Lucinda was awefull. Her voice was annoying and I hear what you are saying about her band having played with some great artists, but they did nothing for me or anyone in a 10 seat radius of me. I saw no interest. It hurt my ears.

However, The Boys were on Fire! Derek was stellar once again, obvious bias' aside.

Love that place, 3rd show this year for me at the rocks...need to move there I think.

I'm usually into and open minded for the opening act, but Lucinda didn't do it for me at RR. I have seen her in a more intimate venue and was entertained, if not impressed. Her vibe works better with low ceilings and better bottles clinking in the background.

The Brothers were there to rock, and it showed. Someone posted about the ying and yang of the Beacon run setlists. RR was mostly all yang - "on 11".

Regret not waiting the extra half hour for the IL, instead having it mailed.
Jessica opener crushed.
The Wasted Words was especially memorable, as was a soulful Mystic.
No guests, no horns (of which I am a big fan of), just full tilt Brothers on a great night at the Rocks. A second encore with Layla would have given it maybe top 10 all time status.
I could seriously do that once a week and look forward to it like a kid on Christmas morning. My wife, however may have a different take on that;<))

I must agree Lucinda did not do much for me. 3rd time I've seen here open for the ABB. Each time the same. Thar being said, the last part of her set was good.

Still replaying the ABB though in my mind. What I show and what a time Aikens & I had.

Could not believe the lack of security. Sweet.

Light

Pretty windy today in South Alabama.

Light

I enjoyed Lucinda, but I had seen her earlier this summer and had a taste of her new stuff. I would have enjoyed more of her better known songs, but she is trying to work in 2 new cd's worth of material. You know how new cd's are-the ABB played one song from HTN at the RR show.
Billy, you should have seen the "old days" re: Red Rocks security-we used to go early afternoon with a cooler of food and drinks (no prohibition on cans and bottles) and you would just spread out the blanket and claim some land and be there fore 10 hours or so! If, I tried that now, I wouldn't remember the show.
I am trying to overcome inertia to go back for Santana/Robert Randolph, but haven't found the energy yet.

One thing I regret was not realizing that the HTN guys were there - where?
Up on the top in the area above the upper GA section?

I always like to stop by and say "hi!"

Oh, did I already mention that my wife and I will definately be back to Red Rocks some day....

Jack: I was not taping but "instant live" was there. I wanted to hang around after and get the CD but I had to book home to relieve the baby sitter. I spoke to instant live the day after the show and sometime in November they will have a bunch of 2005 shows available. I already have everything they taped from 2003 & 2004 and will probably buy all the available 2005 shows. I can't seem to get enough of this stuff.
Speaking of Red Rocks, I was actually at the Jethro Tull show way back in the early 70's when they tear gassed the crowd. No rock shows at the rocks for awhile after that.
I thought the security inside on Sunday was basically non-existent. I didn't see a cop all night except down by the restrooms- just the way I like it.
I'd be glad to get together for the show next year. I usually go with my kids, who are adults at this point- there's a scary thought.
Anyway, Sunday was one of the best of the many shows I have seen since 1969. I'm really looking forward to the annual trip to the Beacon next spring.
Peace, Chris

One of the people who comes with me is my 35 year old son, Jason. He also went to the last 2 Beacons with me. Most of our crowd is "smoky', but if you don't mind, come on down! A few of us get together for Derek,Mule Oteil or whomever also.
