...shall we blame when the "Big Quake" hits California? Thinking the unthinkable, the storm that hit New Orleans was more than a once in a lifetime occurence, therefore, if and when that doozy hits California things will be grim to be sure. So when that happens and misery abounds whom shall we lay the blame on? And there will be blame because there is no way in Hell you can prepare for the unpreparable. What I am trying to say is people should lay off those in charge until later, let's clean up this mess, then you can have your pound of flesh.

Nobody. Earthquakes, like hurricanes, are natural disasters.

Once in a lifetime? You do realize that we arent even half way through the hurricane season yet and they are still predicting 6 more hurricanes. 2 or 3 of which are likely to make shore.

I guess that all depends on whether or not the President is on one of his vacations at the time and whether or not he stays on that vaction for days after the earthquake. Or maybe it might depend on whether or not the people in charge of FEMA and DHS are morons and sit around doing nothing for 4 days.

We had 4-5 days notice for the hurricane and look how bad the response was. We still cant predict earthquakes, so do the math.

Yes, the conservatives are all hoping everyone stays quiet like little mice. Mustnt point fingers at Dear Leader or his incompetent appointees until everyones forgotten the horrors.

I guess I didnt make myself clear. I know there are many hurricanes likely to come, when I said "once in a lifetime" I was refering to the magnitude of the outcome of this last one in particular, so many things went wrong. And as far a predicting quakes I was vague in that respect I guess. I was trying to say that the big one is inevitable, most experts agree on that I think, but that the preperation for the aftermath, which could make California a wasteland, will likely be totally ineffective. I am no means an apologist for President Bush, but since we can no longer vote him out of office ,the hiistory books your children's children study will determine his legacy. Sorry if i was obtuse.

Don't count on the History Books to paint an even handed portrayal.

Depends on who writes them and which ones are allowed into schools. We currently have history books that are different in some ways then when I was young.
