I've got some footage of the Brothers playing at what I the is the Fillmore, and the title say 9-23-1970, which I know is the wrong date (BTW I got it with a torrent).... But if it is at the Fillmore (I don't know which one), could there possibly be some footage of them playing in 71'??? If so, I'd pay a million bucks to see it!!!

6/27/71 was filmed, I think the Big House has it because there is clip of Dickey playing a goldtop and Duane in his peacock Layla shirt that he wore that day.
There is a bit more bits and pieces of them playing in 70 and 71 with Duane.

When I got a bootleg video from "Filmore East," the box said "3-71," " '71," and "3/71." That sure got my hopes up, but there was not a single lick on there that I recognized from At Fillmore East. It turned out to be this 1970.09.23 set (Fillmore East), which is pretty cool in its own right! The most early ABB available, in fact.

By that ambiguous statement I meant it's the most footage available of the early ABB. (As opposed to the earliest ABB footage available.) This is assuming (I hope not incorrectly) that the Love Valley footage, from a couple months earlier, is both shorter and generally very hard to watch, the sound and visuals being poorly synchronized.

I have mentioned several times that in the past that on VH-1 and MTV I have seen short clips of the ABB playing "Statesboro Blues" in both ads and assorted specials. One notable example was on a VH-1 special called something like "1-20". Duane was #16 if I recall correctly. Additionally I remember a clip of Duane soloing in "Whipping Post" that was featured in some type of History of Rock special. Both clips were definitely not from the 9/23/70 footage. Also the quality was quite good, better than the above mentioned 9/23/70 material.

Come on my good brothers, this stuff is out there. Let's find it.

The Love Valley footage is also from September 1970.

No, it's from July 1970. Well known film from this footage is 7/17/'70 and 7/19/'70.

maybe someone should just create a Duane-era video footage forum, there always seems to be a thread talking about whats available, and finding new stuff.
That VH1 footage is from Love Valley though and synched to the studio outake of Statesboro Blues from 1970 that was realeased on the Dreams box set.

The VH-1 footage that I am referring to was definitely indoors. Further, Duane was playing a sunburst Les Paul, not the gold top that he had at Love Valley.

Well what shirt was it? If it was tie dye its from 9/23. But you say its not. Is it the peacock shirt?

I've seen a short "Whipping Post" clip on some Rolling Stone video of the history of rock or something. I don't know whether it's the same clip you mention, Marion, but it's from Duane's first "WP" solo from 1970.09.23.

The Love Valley or other video of "Statesboro Blues" that is "mismatched" to the studio outtake is different from the LV footage with my Fillmore bootleg, which is much of "Mountain Jam" and has been mentioned in threads before. Mine is like the film was shot on a camera separate from the audio recording, which was faster. The poor synchronization came from running the audio continuously but cutting the slower film every few seconds. The film would start out "ahead" of the sound; the faster sound would gradually "catch up" for a moment, and then run ahead again. Then a cut in the film would be made, jumping it back ahead of the sound to repeat the little cycle. Tough to watch, with several cuts in the film every minute like this!

There is more love valley footage, at least I think it's Love Valley where Duane isn't wearing the green "wife-beater" shirt.

No but there is a couple little clips put together on the Big House website, the archive page. Wait for the thing to load. Every Hungry Woman is played to it because the video is just parts showing Dickey and Duane.
I hope once the Big House museum is open the realease all the Duane footage on one big dvd with good sound and really good picture quality. Now that would be something.

Hell yeah it would. They shouldn't hold back anything.
