Maybe this is old news to some but I just found out.

There are some new packages out there from fuji. CD-R 50 packs, made in Japan. They are actually 10 count packs of 5 different colors packaged and sold together. These are currently on sale at Staples for $10. Good news because I don't believe Staples was a seller of fujis beforehand....not sure who else may be stocking these new discs.

DVDs too! 30 packs (3 colors x10) for same low price.

Staples' sale will end Saturday night I *think*.

I am jealous of the prices that you pay in the USA. We have extra taxes on the discs. I just paid $28 Cdn. for 50 Fujis. You get 3 to 1 on us. Also Canada Post is changing the description of an over-sized letter. The packages I sent to the US now for $1.70 will be going to $3.80 in a month!!!

Luckily my Dad lives in Florida most of the year and he brings back a suitcase full of discs for me. Some deals you get are insane. He bought 100 discs for $24 then gets a $10 instore rebate plus a $15 mail-in rebate??? They paid him a dollar to take 100 discs. I would love to know how that works but I won't complain.

Up here Staples always used to carry Fujis but they stopped about 1-2 years ago. Not sure why but hopefully this means they may be returning.

Just be careful, or you'll end up like I did.....

I went to Staples first thing Sunday to make sure they didn't run out....found those 5X10 packs of color Fuji's and looked at the packaging to make sure they were the ones made in Japan....then picked up two packs.

When I got home, I found out that one was made in Japan, the other was made in Taiwan.
Now, I don't really care that much about Japan versus Taiwan, but just make sure you check each package, since the store might be putting both types out on display together and the packages look the same.

Anyway, it's much more cheap than in Japan.
In Japan, Fuji's CD-R which manufactured in Japan costs over $23 with 50 in spindle case.
Of course there are much more cost effective shops exist, but I've never seen it under $15......
Also, almost of CD-R manufactured in Japan is OEM of Taiyo Yuden.

I was just at staples and didn't bother looking at them as I thought they were not the 'Made in Japan' discs due to the new packaging...Shame on me.. Craig

Hey folks in Atlanta, the Staples store at Lenox is out, but the Ponce de Leon store had a bunch of these left this afternoon, and if you drop by tomorrow there's no sales tax either! As near as I can tell, these are Japanese. Well, now I am ready for 10/1, no doubt about that!

Thanks for the tip. I went to Staples and bought 2 50s. The total price with tax was $22.00. Wow! Only 0.22 each for quality Fujifilm Japan blanks. Sure beats shelling out 15-20 bucks for a commerical release. I started this trading thing 10 months ago and still haven't had to buy a commercial release yet!

In case anyone is unaware, you can buy TY silvers here, 100 blanks for 25 frogskins.

TY is (was?) the Japanese manufacturer for Fuji.

They use a different dye. Some people think the dye used by Japanese manufacturers will last longer..... None of us are likely live long enough to know for sure.
