anyone checking out the "OPEN" Tiger is running away again after two rounds. I cannot believe folks consider this golf. More like hitting grounders on some dried out mounds of dirt and putting on rolling hills and craters. Tiger could probably win this tournament playing a 5 iron and putter. No rough, the ball keeps rolling and rolling forever and the way the terrain is set up, this is more a matter of luck than anything else as you have no idea which way the ball will bounce. I love the skill involved in golf but this tournament is a joke in my opinion. The course is no way suitable for a major championship and would be fun to play since golf began in scotland but that is where it should end.

Yeah I was watching it today. Great moments from a historical perspective. Jack finishes his career with a birdie and Tiger is on a roll.

first it calls links golf and tiger can make many a course seem easy or tameable,, if the wind starts to kick up hasnt yet plays big into their scoring and shot making,,you could be say 150 yards away and have 5 or 6 ways to get there!! i play the game i prefer our courses, but its REAL GOLF!!!!!!!!!!

Everytime I see a Golf thread (not very often, huh?) I keep hoping someone is organizing a HTW Tournament. How wild would that be

Agreed. ......and the Weather.

We have a 4 day golf outing every Sept w/ college buddies in N. Michigan.
Coacktails, party favors and tunes in the golf carts. Turned the fellas on to 3.19.04 last year, this year 3.21.05 will be featured. I burn a copy for everybody.
36 a day, great tunes, wonderful setting, big laughs - what could be better.

Cheers

In a related story, just a few days ago I picked up a complete set of irons (mix of Sears and Wilson) and a putter for ten bucks, including a bag -- thought I could work on my short-game.

So today, at the local gas-station/general store, which is downriver from a golf-course and always has a full-size "beer cooler" full of used balls for sale, I picked up a bag of pretzels (Rold Gold), two bottles of water and some Peanut M&M's. At the register, I set down my "groceries", turned to the cooler to get a dozen or two ............ and instead of golf balls it is chock-full of varietal packs of generic cigarettes!

One of the most impressive golf stats ever IMHO, is
when Tiger won the British ( in 2000 ? ) he played all
4 rounds w/o being in one bunker ! The course had
a total of 112 bunkers, many of them those deep pot
bunkers ....

Yea, Yea, I know ....... across the pond it's called "The Open" ...

Yes, a HTN golf event would be sweet. We have some great courses down here in the Pawleys Island, Murrells Inlet area of SC. The Pawleys Island Tavern (The PIT) would make for a great 19th hole.
