From a Pollstar interview with Roger Waters:

"As for his rock career, Waters, 61, is working on new album. But those hoping for a Pink Floyd project after the group's reunion at the Live 8 concert in London will be disappointed.

"The chances of further developing with the Pink Floyd reunion are very slight," he said.

"The Live 8 reunion couldn't have been better, it was terrific, I was really glad it happened, we got along famously and it was absolutely fine, but (guitarist) Dave (Gilmour) and I do have major musical, philosophical, political and artistic differences," he said with a laugh. "So for us to reconvene would probably not be the most brilliant idea."

So there you have it.

Well, whatever...that's cool!!!

I say eff'em and tour without Roger Waters. Hell...why not? They've done it before and had major success. I just wish something new would come out of this camp besides re-packaged classics that I already have.

I would at least love to see a solo David Gilmour album/tour. His live DVD "In Concert" is simply amazing!

What a pompous ass! But Iíve never seen Floyd with Waters, so another tour would have been too hard to pass up. This news is a huge bummer to me.

Double bummer, I didn't see it ever happening, but at least, there was a slight chance. Just seeing them sharing the Live 8 stage was enough for me, I guess.

It was beautiful to see them on stage together, but the truth is it seems like Roger has pretty much lost his voice.Having said that,Gilmour sounded amazing

Roger's voice was a bit rough and David didn't quite seem as happy as the others to be there. I was really hoping they'd do one round os shows both abroad and here....but it sounds like it won't happen. It's a major letdown to me.

Anyone know if this G8 or a comp will possibly be released on DVD in the future? The video footage on the aol link is excellent......if I could only capture it permanently.

On Roger Waters website it said he will be touring in 06 and I am telling you all, if you have not seen Waters solo you need to go. He is amazing. Its not all the visual spectacal of Floyd but its great Pink Floyd music sung by the man! I loved seeing Floyd in 87 and 94 but I have loved Waters as well. Gotta take what they give you and having Roger in concert is pretty darn good

It was cool to see them on the Live 8 thing. However, I thought Waters' voice was very weak and it didn't seem as though there was any "spunk" in the performance. Gilmour sounded great but they just didn't have the spark in my opinion. I'm sure had I been present, I'd think different. It is a bummer that they aren't going to tour as I've never seen Floyd, but would sure like to....I do agree that Gilmour is one of the greats, his own style and sound.

Quick, somebody hack into their bank accounts and clean them out. That way they'll need the money and we're guarenteed a reunion tour.

Can you imagine what these guys must be worth? Hell, just the ongoing proceeds from Dark Side of the Moon must be worth millions to say nothing of the touring money they make whenever they actually do one every 8-10 years.

What makes him a pompous ass?

The fact he doesn't want to make music with someone he fells no connection with?

or that he doesn't want to do what you want him to do?

Funny thing is, if they did tour, everyone would start a thread complaining about how much tickets are. Its always a catch 22.

I donít think you can develop the kind of ego Waters has, youíre born with it. A little compromise and sacrifice goes a long way, which Iíve never seen a hint of in every interview I ever heard from him. "Political" differences, give me a break. I love Waters, but it sounds to me like that chip has never been knocked off his shoulder.

If you're looking for God, heíd say he was the most important musical figure behind Floyd, and he doesn't like to be second guessed.

I would love to see Pink Floyd get back together and tour. But if there not in to it for the love of it, I cannot believe money would make it acceptable. Same reason I was never big into the Beatles getting back together.

If either Waters or Gilmour or both or even the others are not into it, then we should not wish it either as it would be a cruel joke.

Yeah, but that quote quickly came to mind when thinking of Mr. Waters.

I will damn sure second that!!

I've only seen Waters solo once a few years back and I enjoyed it more than the four times I saw Floyd without him...........sorry folks but if you asked my opinion to the question 'Oh By The Way Which One's Pink' I would tell you Roger Waters all the way. But you didn't ask.

I listened to 'Amused to Death' just this morning on the way to work.

Kind of ironic...the band that runs this website has a couple founders that don't get along!!

The show must go on....

Was there always animosity between Waters and Gilmour or did it come about in later years?

There had to be something good between them at one point to make the killer music they did...somethings just don't stay the same....funny...reminds me of my ex ol' lady.

I agree with you. If he did tour it would be to milk the Pink Floyd name. Allman fans should know. You get the best shows when the members get along.

Well, in my opinion anyway, if you follow the Floyd's career closely, you'll see that Roger was never much of a vocalist anyway. His voice is best as a tool of emotion. It's almost as a vocalist that he is more of an actor than a singer. (I mean this in a complimentary way). He hardly ever sang in the early days. And then when he did, it was more of a compliment to Dave's singing. But by the time THE WALL came out, he was doing all the vocals. Again it's more of an actor portraying agony, pain, confusion, suffering and outright insanity. He's a master at that. But when it comes to melody, that was always Gilmour's stregnth.

Incidentally, I agree, Gilmour is underrated. The way that man expresses himself on both guitar & vocals moves me in a very unique way.

On the thing about Waters being pompous. I don't know if the above quote is enough to make someone say that, but he sure has said enough in the past for someone to call him pompous.

I thought the reunion was very moving, very touching and performed INCREDIBLY well. I pretty much wasn't expecting a reunion... Besides, what a great way to put an end to an amazing career. They put their differences aside and did one last gig for a great cause. It's almost the perfect Hollywood ending.
