Anyone making the Phil shows in Denver and Red Rocks mid July?

I could not resist with The Dragonflys as an opener, should be awesome!

Not sure about the Ryan Adams addidtion, but hopefully Phil knows what he's doing?

Well...timing was not right for the DTB Colorado tour this year, made it last year.

I just want to catch Phil @ Red Rocks, especially if these are the only shows announced....not to mention the chance to check out "Wolf"!!!

I also try to coincide my Colorado trips with Whitewater runs, so this time it's 2 Phil shows and then 2 days on the Arkansas river. The put-in is only 2 hours south of Red Rocks in Buena Vista, CO. 2 weeks ago we ran the Piedra river in South Western Colorado, near Pagosa Springs, hopefully The Arkansas will not be running quite that hard...that river had some insane rapids!!

You can't carry over the Sock conversation to here...way out of context!

Derek will be back here in August at a club called Cervantes that was a jazz club many years ago in the area known as 5 Points, which is just north of downtown. Here is a link to the club's website:http://www.cervantesmasterpiece.com/ I didn't buy tickets yet, but unless something comes up, I am planning on going and I know of few others who may also go.
I went white water rafting years ago at Buena Vista. It was a July 4th weekend and the river was very high. Most rafts pulled out at a certain spot to avoid "Slidell's suckhole", but we scouted and thought we could make it. Wrongo!!! We got completely flipped over and found out the hard way that a friend's wife couldn't swim. It was quite the day.

It might have been a good idea to know if everyone could swim before hitting a Class IV river?

So many people have drowned this year that many commercial operations are running boater safety and skill assesment the day before they run a river.

My original plan for 2 weeks ago was to run the Upper Animus from Silverton to Durango, but the day before our run, a guide and a tourist drowned. 38 degree water is not easy to swim in, even with a life vest and dry suit.

I have a few going to the Friday Phillmore show w/ the Dragonflys opening.
Some hockey friends apparently know Rob from living on the East coast, we'll see.

Runoff is excellent, I've been told - especially in SW drainages. I'll see for myself this weekend. Try the Numbers portion of the Ark, as opposed to Brown's, during the week, especially in the morning (fewer boats, but slower water).

For real excitment, the Royal Gorge should be blasting - helmets required!!

Safety first, you don't last long in 40 degree water, for sure.

I imagine the guide overlooked asking her-maybe because as a middle aged attorney, he might have thought she would know enough to say something. There were kids also that day and we would not let them go thru that spot. It would have been the exact right time for her to 'fess up and get out with the kids. Maybe she had a false sense of security from the life jacket.
I do remember how quickly I tired in the cold water!

By mid july the runoff should be way down compared to where it was. We need a couple of more snowpacks like this year to get caught up. Fishing should be good by August!
