I would like to see him play with some of the "Older" players...EC, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler. I just want to see how he inspires their playing.

Tinsley Ellis. Even though I've just recently heard this guy, he jams.

If they were still alive, Rory Gallagher and Steve Gaines. Wow...if you got all three of them playing slide on something like "T For Texas"...that would be some great rock.

Jim, I hear ya! I too would love to see derek and Jimmy together again. Those guys have so much talent and telepathy between them. I wish they's do an entire album together. But to answer this question in what I think is the best way......... I'd love to see Derek play with somebody who he wants to play with ... Wayne Shorter. I'd love to see what kind of performance Derek could pull off playing with somebody who he is actually stoked to play with not some rocker that we'd like to see him with for no good reason other than that'd be cool to hear him play with Jeff Beck or whoever. Nomewhaimsayin'?

Not sure, I believe it was an SCI show where the two guested in 2001.. may be wrong, I know they've played together though. Kimock is awesome though.

In order to get him more well known and to get adopted into another fan base, Id love to see him do something with Dave Matthews. Not only would he look like a god onstage, but I think his style would actually work well on a few songs.

On a more possible note, maybe, Id love to see him play with Eric Clapton.

Joshua Redman, Chick Corea, Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock, Otis Rush, Keb Mo to name a few

It would be great to see Derrek sit in with Santana and his full band too! IMO

Im not sure, there are a few songs Derek would be able to add something too. It wouldnt be perfect or anything similiar to what he has done before but Im sure Derek could do it. Listen to Say Goodbye on Crash. Derek could easily fit in there. And also the any-guitarist jam song Watchtower. Robert Randolph guested with Dave about 5 times this year, even though Derek and Robert are two different people, I think Daves music is versatile enough for alot of musicians.

Edit: Forgot to mention about Warren playing with Dave on multiple occasions. Warren and Derek are opposite ends of the spectrum, but listen to Warren on Jimi Thing from Central Park, and tell me you could not see Derek doing something on that. Maybe not, I dunno, but a man can dream cant he??

yeah, derek and Santana's band..man the possibilities....

I'm thinking this lineup would be something to see:
Trucks/Scofield guitars
Dave Holland on bass
Don Alias on percussion
Mickeal Brecker and Joshua Redman on sax
Jack Dejohnette on drums
Herbie Hancock on piano

now that would be something to see IMO
