Hey everyone! Has anyone bought any of the Muletracks shows? I was wondering what you all thought and if anyone has had any problems. I've bought about 15 now, all FLAC files. They've been all great except for two, two that I bought recently, where the shows are just plagued with digital static. When I got the first one, I figured maybe something went wrong in the download process, so I had them reset my download so I could do it again, but the exact same sound occurred. The "reviews" mentioned nothing of it. I bought two shows afterwards and there were no problems, but I purchased a third one that has the exact same problems. I'm wondering if they were just recorded that way.

12/31/04 disc 1 has it all over, at least through the Rocking Horse.

I just purchased the 6/5/05 show. Good sound quality, the song endings/ovations could be smoother.

they just had a post on the muletracks page about changing who was running things (getting shows out quicker)... and this could reflect these issues as well I suppose...

I purchased the Nashville show and it sounds great. I think the sound quality on the ABB Instant Live shows is slightly superior. The Instant Live shows seem to have just a little more audience mix. In addition the Instant live shows seem to be a little more crisp sounding.
I have not experienced any issue with static.
Right now I am waiting for them to post the New Orleans shows from late April, I would highly recommend the 1st night.

just curious if you checked the FLAC files for integrity?... do you get the static when played right from the computer...?

the only time I've gotten static it was from the burning process (mostly from others who sent me shows - I always request FLAC if They'll do it so I can guard against loss of quality), so if your getting it on the Download then you should call up the music today people and let them know... they've been very helpful in the past with problems I've had....

Straight from the hard drive - I even re-downloaded the files and tried again on 12/31/04.

Thanks, for the idea, I'll double check this, but I did play them straight on the computer and still got the static. The weird thing is that it only seems to be April 2005 shows.

I have not called Music Today yet, but I did write an email. But now you've got me curious that perhaps I didn't really double check that very well, I'll have to do it tonight when I get home...

Can you guys recommend your favorite Mule Tracks? I've wanted to download a few shows but didn't know where to begin.

Last tour: I would jump on the NOLA and Burlington Vt shows 4/05 if you can. I was at Burlington and totally blown away. And I heard the AUD recordings of NOLA and they were great and I regretted not going.

From this tour I would get Boston cause Warren's voice was top notch that night (not that it isn't always great, just the extra humidity from the harbour made for a more resonant tone) and they did Many Rivers To Cross and Ramblin Gamblin Man wioth Robert Randolph. Also Philly is great becasue of the guests but also becasue of Maybe I'm Amazed.

A lot of people like the New Years Eve 2004 show, though I liked the Baltimore 12/04 shows better.

I also have been meaning to get the: 02.26.05 Oakdale Theater - Wallingford, CT - I was there and the show was great. And the only acoustic Mule show with the new line-up: 02.13.05 Fox Theatre - Boulder, CO. The first set was acoustic and the second was electric.

The 11.13.04 4th & B - San Diego, CA show was also great and I ahve the tracks to it and still listen to that show.

I prefer less audience noise. Too many people yelling just to hear themselves. The Instant Lives had problems with whistlers. I love that about One Way Out. Perfect live mix if you ask me.

The 11.5.04 show from Indy is great and that Nashville show is top of the line too. The Out Of The Rain gives me goosebumps.

I was at the Columbus show last night. Buy this show when made available. The Mule's version of "How Many More Years?" was stunning as the first set closed. They also covered "Oh Well", "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", threw in some riffage from "Higher Ground" and my least favorite Mule song, "Soul Shine" was reinvented in a mindblowing way. I spoke with Warren after the show and he told me that was the first time they had ever played "Soulshine" in that fashion. He said something to the effect that the song wouldn't allow him to end it hence the extended version. The night ended with a cover they had never performed before, "Let It Rock" (Chuck Berry?). I figured it was new since the roadie taped the lyrics to his monitor before they started the song. Warren confirmed that it was first time it was played. I asked how many songs they new. He said with Woody... about 400. With the current band they're at about 250. Buy this show or get an audience recording.
