While surfing The Big House web site today I came across an auction site. They are auctioning off a pair of front row tickets to most of the Allman Brothers Band summer shows. This is way too cool. Bids open up at $100 for a pair of front row tickets. The money raised will go to The Big House Foundation. Here is the link to the auction site: http://www.bighouseauction.com/cgi-bin/auction.cgi?action=ShowPage&page=ent rypage.html

I have placed my first bid. This is going to be fun watching the bids during the summer.

Peace,

Lee

I'm glad you stumbled upon that, because I forgot to tell everyone about it!

I'm gonna put in some bids...but I noticed one of the shows up for auction is the Penns Landing show.
That's a general admission, no seats show/venue.
I wonder what front row means for this show?

I would bet they reserve two seats for any general admission shows. One thing about the Allman Brothers Band, they always take care of their fans.

I'm sure the brothers do it like a lot of performers do. A few summers ago I worked at PNC, and almost every night a couple of incredibely happy fans always came running down from the lawn with front row seats. It seems a rep of the band with some sort of credentials or something hanging around their neck would walk up to the back of the lawn and hang out. Eventaully someone would ask if they were associated with the performer and the next thing they were running down to the front row tickerts in hand. Very Nice

Not that I'm losing any sleep about this, but the suggestions I'm reading above seem to assume that although Penn's Landing is GA, there are seats...
But, according to the Ticketmaster description of the event, not only is it GA, it's standing only NO SEATS.

My question remains - how do you auction off front row seats for an event that doesn't have any seats?

I don't know for sure -- maybe it means an entire-show photo pass ...

Perhaps if it is a Gen Admission show, then there will be 2 seats set up on the stage for them...like they do for some other shows....

Again...this question is no big deal...but I called the auction folks, they didn't know but were going to check with the "ABB Tour Manager"...

Minimum bid is $100 each or $200 for the pair.

Jim. since the "ABB Tour Manager" they mentioned to you is one of the founders of the Big House Foundation, I think you'll be taken care of somehow

I wanted to bump this up to the top again. There are still many shows with no bids. This is a great opportunity for excellent seats and a chance to support The Big House Foundation!!

I couldnt agree more! This is such a worthy oppurtunity to aid in such a worthy cause, so go ahead and bid while youve got the chance. How often do you get to be set directly in front of such master musciains and legends like the Allman Brothers? I'll bet not to often. Go ahead and bid. Your getting that chance and giving to this worthy cause. What do you have to lose?

Yes- a worthy cause.

Just a quick update - the Philly show was still listed in the auction this morning, but I did get a call yesterday telling me it would be pulled.
Since there is a bid on it, I think they want to contact the bidder first...

No where have I been able to find the goal the Big House Foundation aims to raise or where they are towards that goal. Perhaps this infomation somewhere here or on the Big House link would help keep momentum up towards this wonderful cause.

CF, Thank you for the suggestion! The exact number has escaped me right now, but I know that the goal is a ways down the road, but that changes with every donation that you make, and remember, it is up to us to keep the momentum up and thriving, so full steam ahead! This is a wonderful offer and cause.

There are at least 3 shows with no bids on them yet, and according to U.S. federal tax law, the portion of the final bid amount that is above the face value of the tickets (Approx. $100) is tax deductable You might want to bid on these shows before they are gone!

Update....Philly question answered and finaliized....

After discussion with "ABB management" (haha) it has been decided to leave the Philly show in the auction.
Lucky winner will have a pair of on-stage seats.
I believe the website will be updated to let folks know.

Bid away!
