On this rainy Saturday morning I decided to watch Denza's ABB DVD again. I've wiped all the tears away and now ready to offer this GEM to those who haven't seen it. Dennis, I have no idea how much time you spent on this project, but I feel the love you put into it. Thank you, again! It's a treasure!

The DVD Project
Allman Brothers Band Vol. 1
DVD #1 - Duane & Berry
DVD #2 - Saturday Night In Macon

These ABB discs turned out pretty well I think, although far from perfection. I wish DVD #1 could be better sound/video quality, but I am leaving the possibility open of upgraded versions of this down the line. Besides, it's nearly 90 min. of all things Duane & Berry so the hardcore will understand. I almost omitted the Love Valley & Central Park clips, but I thought for archival purposes I would have them in there too, most remotes have Fast Forward...LOL. There will nothing in the DVD Projects of this type quality from here on out (except maybe some Miles Davis footage). Disc #1 is somewhat of an archive disc, but includes the Fillmore footage (with 2 WP sources), two tracks from Berry's last show, and some interesting footage of Duane from Love Valley. Even though the film quality is rough, I still love that shot of Duane playing under the open sky with the light shining on him @ 6:39 on the Southern Voices track. Also, on the Hofstra footage, be sure to watch Berry just smooth in the groove on Ramblin' Man and watch Dickey just tear up Whipping Post standing between Butch & Jaimoe whose kits are up front instead of behind. There is really isn't anything new here other than the short slideshow, but at least it's all on one neat, navigatable disc.

DVD #2 is the COMPLETE Don Kirchners Rock Concert from Macon in 1973 featuring Wet Willie, Marshall Tucker and the Allman Brothers. I had the ABB set for a long time but it is an odyssey in itself how the whole thing finally made it to me via Clay. Thanks to that unknown trader out there! The original source tape had been recorded at a lower quality speed for about 10 minutes and then was switched to a HQ mode, so everything gets better after that point. bbart did a fantastic job of bring healing to the audio on the Macon disc and repaired the first 10 minutes which were a real mess into something that is now quite listenable. From there on out it sounds damn fine comin' outta my speakers. Kudo's to ya bro', you did a great job! The Macon disc is really very, very good for a taping from 30+ years ago. A pretty remarkable document IMHO. I love the Marshall Tucker set and they may almost steal the show. No duel guitars, you can really see here how Dickey stepped up to fill in a very large hole left with Duane gone. This also has the only non-commercial footage of Wet Willie in existence. Taken as a whole, this is a very nostalgic look at music in Macon in 1973 and a great piece of ABB history.

It sure is raining hard outside now. However, I could probably go to the post office.

I don't see a cut off number.

I think I'll sign up as number 6.

Thanks. I have most of the dvd material on vhs, but as someone said, the quality is not so great. Any improvements will surely be appreciated.

Hey Mike (peach-head), as you live in the UK I will cover you with this. I am going on holiday next week so there won't be any time to B&P, but I have your address and I will send you a "freebie" for now and we can sort it all out later.

This offer has been around for awhile, and it just shows how nice it is to re-offer stuff for folks who miss things or can't get in the first time around. Thanks to Peg and all who re-offered this in the past, there really have been a lot of people who helped spread this around.

To any of you who are new to this DVD set, here's the orginal thread that you might want to check out, there are some good stories about how some of this footage came to be buried in the thread. There's also a link in there somewhere to the beautiful cover art EddieP was kind enough to create for us.

Peg, I didn't see the #5 cut off at the bottom of your offer. I'll just pass on this offer. I've already caused you to have to burn four more discs. With my name in the pot, you would have to burn six more dvds. I'll just pass on this one. However, if you'd like to trade me a copy for a show or something, when you have some free time, then perhaps that would be a bit more reasonable. I slept late today, and I logged on here to see if Quinn has answered my pm. I would like to get an Alison Krauss show from Quinn. Is Quinn a guy or a girl? I'm not sure. Anyway, he or she has a 1998 show that I would like. And I had another pm. All I am saying, is, this is about the first thing I did today. Number five didn't close the door. There was no cutoff in the title. Ok, I'll just wait and maybe you might trade me a copy when you get some time. Would this be ok? I just don't want to impose, nor do I want to further a reputation of me trying to be a bad guest in this forum. So, I'm out. Thanks, but I wasn't paying attention, and I didn't look over the offer very closely. I always put spaces between my text, or I put important stuff in bold type. Anyhow, how about trading me a copy in a couple of weeks or so? And thanks Peg for offering this dvd set up. I can't copy dvds.

Several people in the UK have this thanks to Denza's generosity. As I posted above, I am going on holiday later this week, but if you want to send me 2 blank DVD+R's and a stamped, addressed bubble envelope then I will copy the DVD's for you in 2 weeks time when I get back home. Please note the blank DVD's must be DVD+R's (not DVD-R's) as my burner only seems to work with +R format. If you are interested, send me a PM and I will give you my mail address.
