I was watching "The Great Muppet Caper" with my little sister tonight, and I noticed that the bass player in the Muppet band, named Floyd, looks like Duane. The singer/keyboardist in the band is modeled after Dr. John and called Dr. Teeth.

Floyd is the 5th Muppet down on this website: http://membres.lycos.fr/foufli/muppet.html

I actually saw a documentary once on who they were all after, I can't remember if I'm right but I remember that Floyd was someone like Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (or maybe Patrick Simmons), Janice I think was Joni Mitchell, Animal was Keith Moon and Dr. Teeth was Dr. John.

I loved the Muppet Show when I was little! We used to tell my grandfather that was him, the skinny old man with the hair in his ears that sat in the balcony, LMAO....

Janice does have bangs, but she talks more like a californian than a canadian.

I wish Macfarlane toys would do a Duane figure.

So far I've seen Janice, Morrison, Jimi, and Jerry (and one other, I think, not counting the yellow submarine beatles).

Duane seems like the next logical move, to me.

Skunk looks like the more likely choice. Man, I love the Muppets.

I'm watching the movie right now, and there's another Muppet who looks much more like Duane. He has no name, or at least I don't recognize him, but you can see him on the balcony with the Electric Mayhem in the "Happiness Hotel." He plays the guitar and sings with the crowd. He's got the sideburns and everything.

Fun note that I found: most of the Muppets are left-handed because the puppeteers have to operate the heads with their right hands.

I thought they were Hendrix wannabees. That makes sense though.

I remember the guy Marley is talking about. Duane sitting in.

Floyd was definitely based on Skunk. That picture of him on here is rather time compared to some of his looks.

I remember Alice Cooper on the Muppets. Only Floyd and animal made it into Cooper's Band, the rest were guests ghouls and monsters.

That's wierd, I always wondered that. As a huge fan of the Muppets as a kid, I could never look at the cover of Duane's Anthology II without thinking of Floyd. Same with Dr. Teeth - no way Jim Henson didn't know who Dr John was (and maybe the Cheshire Cat!).

I was at a local band's show a few weeks ago and they introduced a tune saying whomever guessed the name of the band band that originally recored the next song won a free CD. Well, they launched into "Can You Picture That" and I proudly (maybe a little too proudly) shouted "DR TEETH AND THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM!" and won myself a free cd. The album isn't very good, but it makes a nice conversation piece.
