Well this is bumming me out. Last year the Allmans plyed at the Gorge on 4th of July weekend so I couldn't go( I work Grocery in meat dept so it's the busiest weekend of the year) No this year there not coming at all. What's the deal!!!!!
Plus the year before they played the same night as the Dead so I didn't get to se them. and in 2002 the skipped us again. The only reason I got to see them that year is I happened to be down in L.A. when they came thru. Man, no love for the northwest!!!

As a fellow Northwester, I, too, am disappointed.. I don't remotely claim to know the reason why the Northwest was left off this year, but if you consider the economics of hauling all their equipment and themselves to the Northwest, it has to be expensive..Then you have the weather conditions; you never know what you're going to get..The last time they were in Portland, August of '99, the place was empty..They certainly didn't sell very many tickets..I wonder how many they would have sold last year for the Gorge, if it weren't for the Dead playing with them..The Gorge as you know is pretty remote, but a great place to see a show..I would love a "home game", but it gives my wife and I a good excuse to travel; that's why we flew to NYC to see 2 Beacon Shows, and we just got back from California having seen both the Greek and Santa Barbara shows..We are now considering going to Hartford and the Tweeter..I guess if they don't come to you, then you have to go to them..

I was in Portland for the 99 fairgrounds show. It was sad attendence. Susan opened, I think. How is the newer venue in Vancouver, WA?? Too sterile?

I think the earlier posts explained the reason(s). Mostly poor attendance. No band is going to travel anywhere to play a half empty house.

That and they already have a few west-side dates all set. They'll eventually hit the northwest, don't worry.
