I am only on a few message boards and by far this is the best one as far as having some really good people , good threads, and for the most part being positive
The worst one would have to be the Offiical Black Crowes Message board. I'm sure a few of you are on there, but those people are BRUTAL a good part of the time and have big attitudes. God forbid you mention Audley Freed and you get hate mail, they crucify that poor guy and the act like Marc Ford is the 2nd coming or something. Both I feel are very good guitar players...just different.
Anyways just had to put that out there. I have found a lot of good info and help on here among other things also. Keep On Truckin'!!!!!

I can attest to that. I am registered as BDOB over there and probably don't have more than 10 or 15 posts there. The crowd there seems more...I don't know....snobbish?

Correction...I have 9 posts there. I will say this, they have a cool online radio deal where they play old shows. It's great to listen to cranked up while you are surfing elsewhere.

That sucks...I'm not a part of the Crowes board but I did register and visit the Rich Robinson board a few times during The Crowes hiatus. A small group there but actually pretty nice folks. I picked up a few live Rich Robinson Band shows there which are amazing and are art of my regular listening rotation.

...No question about it though, this place is by far the best and nicest music communuity on the web. I guess thats why we're all here...and NEVER seem to leave...

Aww, come on guys. Don't leave me all alone over there.

I'm currently trying to fight the good fight as hotfoot over on amorica.org. Those guys can be pretty freakin brutal considering the Crowes are supposed to be their favorite band. I have been an ABB fan since birth and they will always be my favorite, but I recently became a pretty big Black Crowes fan, so it's kind of cool to see that their message board is seeing so much action, even though the majority of it is complaints. I've tried my best to set some of those guys straight.

never been on the Crowes board but I was a frequest poster on the NEM board last year and although it wasn't too bad, it wasn't the same feel as here. You just can't beat us!

Yeah the 'official' message board is pretty bad. All the Crowes fans i know ignore the official board for the most part and post on www.blackcrowes.org there is a much friendlier vibe on that forum. By the way i'm RedDevil over there (i was listening to Lester Butler at the time of registering).

Wow, that's brutal. I have only seen Audley Freed after the Crowes, sitting in with other bands (he was at a blues and bones fest in Denver a couple of summers ago when Derek Trucks was the headliner). He not only fit in real well, he was awsome when given the chance to solo. I see it here sometimes on the Dickey site. Too bad in both cases.

The ONLY time I have seen the Crowes was in '99 on the By Your Side tour with Audley. I thought it was a great show! I have be honest, I am really looking forward to seeing the band with Marc. He was there during their best studio stuff.

And while I'm at it...BRING BACK STEVE GORMAN!!!

I was so excited when I saw the new Black Crowes board and joined immediately, but I've scarcely posted because of all the petty mudslinging. Sad that a bunch of folks that have a common interest can't even pretend to be respectful. I agree this board is awesome.

I'm a huge Crowes fan as well... But I haven't posted for the same reason. In fact I haven't even been reading...

As far as the Audley/Marc thing goes. I've been a fan for since I first heard of the band in 1990, but it was the 2nd album that made them one of my favorite bands. So I've always had a special place in my heart for Marc. But when Audley joined, I thought he was awesome too. I don't know how anyone can be so hard on Audley, I saw them a few times with him and he NEVER missed a note. He played incredibly and fit in perfectly. It's easy to say Marc's better, because he was there for the most loved part of their career. And though Marc is usually awesome, I've heard him not-so-great live in the mid-90's. I am glad Marc is back though, it makes it feel like "classic" BC. But as I said before, there would be no complaints from me if it were still Audley. I do have a problem with Steve Gorman not being there, but what can you do?

I was an Audley fan before his stint with TBC. Cry of Love - Brother still gets plenty of player time at my house.

Speaking of Audley (Marley's description of him as the "Kramer of Rock" after we saw him with the Mule in Chicago was hilarious) I just saw him on Conan tonight in Joe Perry's Band. They rocked. Joe played some tasty slide and they had Charlie Drayton on bass (I think-he sure looked like him anyway.) Good band. I'll have to check out his new CD.

Good to see Audley landed on his feet. He's too good not to be playing.

Thanks for the news on Audley with Joe Perry. You are right about him, he is too good not to be playing. I saw him with the crowes about 2-3 times and with NEM on the last tour. It was great to see him up there being the main man playing guitar with Chris. Just dont mention his name on the Black crowes web page. They all act like he is something awful and Marc Ford is the 2nd coming over there. Tha's part of the reason I started this thread.

THE BLACK CROWES SURPRISE HOMETOWN FANS

CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON of THE BLACK CROWES rolled out a surprise for their fans Thursday night (May 5) at the first of four shows at the Tabernacle in their Atlanta hometown. The gig marked the return of THE BLACK CROWES’ original drummer, STEVE GORMAN, who has rejoined the band.

After having recently performed for 22,000 fans over seven sold-out nights in New York City, the group embarked on a leg of headlining gigs. These shows will run through May 29, plus a stop at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, TN on June 11 and a run of five sold-out shows in San Francisco at The Fillmore on August 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. THE BLACK CROWES will also head out for a run of dates with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers beginning June 7 through August 30.

THE BLACK CROWES--Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitars), Marc Ford (guitars), Eddie Hawrysch (keyboards), Sven Pipien (bass) and Steve Gorman (drums)--took a hiatus in October ’01, but have returned and are performing wide-ranging set lists that alternate every night, encompassing BLACK CROWES songs from their six studio albums, plus b-sides and unreleased material, alongside 19 special covers that illuminated the band’s rich musical heritage.

For the latest news, live soundbites and tour dates, check out www.blackcrowes.com

THAT IS EFFIN' GREAT!!!! WOOOOO EFFIN' HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a shame their fans are so harsh on Audley. Like Big Dave said, the Cry of Love CDs are great. Audley totally rips it up on those CDs, I don't think the Crowes gave Audley much of a chance to really show his stuff.

Sorry if this is an inappropriate place to post this, but I have a couple or three extra tix for Saturday night's show in Atlanta at the Tabernacle. Only looking to get what I paid for them, which is ~$52 or so per ticket, after 'service' fees and shipping, etc. If interested, please PM me and I'll be in touch. Looks to be a great show!
