I was just reading my Hittin' the note email which talked about 'collaborations almost would be a given' when Derek and Oteils bands play in Georgia on the 14th of this month. I was thinking the same thing about the Big House show but was a little disappointed that nothing like that happened. I'd imagined Derek or Oteil sitting in on a song with Jaimoe. Warren playing a song with DTB or Oteil. Gregg,Derek or Oteil on a Mule song etc.. I understand the logistics involved in moving 5 bands equiptment around on and off stage and the need to keep things moving for 7 hours worth of music, which was done quite well I might add, but still feel at least one sit in per set might have made the evening even more special. The 'very special guests' sitting in were nice, but a little more band to band interaction would have been even nicer. Anyone feel like this too?

I think they were trying to showcase each individual band that night. The audience was full of all kinds of people familiar with the ABB but not the side projects.

I agree Pam and nothing gave me greater pleasure than seeing DTB on stage at the Beacon! At the same time I think there were also alot of people there who were mostly familiar with all the bands and since it's rare that they're all on the same bill the opportunity did exist to cater to both. Maybe the folks going to Wanee will see some 'collaboration'.

Since I'd seen that 'collaboration' for nine nights already we weren't exactly breaking any new ground there.

Ozzy, I agree with ya.
I was looking for warren to join Derek on one of his tunes or Greg to sit in with Otiel.
And I was also looking for some "major' guests but we never got that either.
It was still a great night.

I would have thought Warren would have been able to sit in on MFT or something

Some interesting posts here. guys.

While I can't disagree with Ryans point, there are some instances where a little "band on band" would've been highly appropriate.

An example being Gregg joining DTB for "Drown In My Own Tears", maybe.

I didn't see any of the earlier shows so for me the Big House Benefit was stunning as it was, and I didn't even think of the possibility of any further band on band stuff until this thread was posted.

Peace.

Name all the tunes by all the bands which played the Big House Benefit.

NOT INCLUDING ABB
