So I read on Phantasy tour that moe. will be touring with the allmans for a bunch of dates this summer. I think that is a great move by both sides.

Except for some festivals, the ABB never announces summer dates until after the Beacon. So unless moe announces something soon we'll probably be waiting a few weeks at least. Personally if I want to see the Allmans, I'd rather just see the Allmans.

Who wouldn't want to tour with ABB????

moe. or Mule are both good openers IMO. Let's just hope they are indeed openers and it's not a cobill.

I disagree with yall totally. I would love nothing more then to see a ABB 90 minute opening set, followed by 2 full sets of moe. goodness.

LET THE FLAMING BEGIN

I thought the Dead got it right when they were on tour in 2003, having contemporaries and influences as opening acts, such as Steve Winwood and Dylan. I say the ABB bring somebody who was an influence on them but isn't necessarily as popular on tour with them. Susan T and Hot Tuna are excellent choices. Buddy Guy or Robert Cray or another bluesman would be a great choice as well. I don't know what he's doing right now, but when I saw Joe Bonnamassa (sp?) open for Skynyrd he was great.

Marley,
The dates were definately announced well before the Beacon last year. I remember because I had to buy my Red Rocks tickets when I was in NY for last year's Beacon run. I really don't remember the previous year.
