Hey folks, thought this could be fun. Was wondering what people thought would be the surprise song this yr. for the Beacon run. Examples of past yrs are Layla 2 yrs ago along with "into the mystic" Or last yr with "the night they drove ole dixie down" or "why does love got to be so bad" Even an old ABB song that they might bring back. Let the guessing begin

I keeping w/ the Layla Album theme from the past two years (Layla, Key to the Highway, Why Does Love..), I would like to hear the Bros tackle Bell Bottom, Anyday, Have You Ever Loved a Woman or (dare I say?) Little Wing

I think the surprise song(s) of the run will be new one(s) in their first live practice version before going into the studio this fall to record them

I hope harvey got it right.

New covers are okay.

New originals would be even better.

Have You Ever Loved a Woman is forever on my list of hopefuls to hear, with Derek on the solo.

Since we are guessing, and My Favorite Things has been teased in the past and Derek is playing it now, I guess the ABB might bring that out. This is my guess, just a guess...

I am still waiting on Dimples too...and I did request that we get a full Will The Circle be Unbroken last year, in which Butch did not like me saying it was a "tease". lol...I did apologize for saying tease though and Butch found that to be quite funny.

A good old unfamiliar to most fans, blues song from way back with a little rework would be nice too, they can just pick any song they want and revive it and I would be happy!

...and while I am still on the thoughts of this subject, I believe we should get a live Little Martha to close out the run this year on the last night.

Yeah... I thought they'd do it at the Fox since they played everything else from Eat a Peach. We know how good it sounded on the XM thing. I think the reaction would be absolutely huge.

They played Need Your Love so Bad last year, but I wouldn't mind hearing that again this year.

I agree Dave. Love those versions from 2000.

This may sound strange, but the song that is probably known as a Van Halen tune but is actually an old blues cover (artist escapes me at the moment) is Ice Cream Man. The original is much different than the VH version. Would love to hear Gregg sing it. Doubtful, but one can always hope.

Would love to hear Gregg sing "Bell Bottm Blues", what soul in his voice, perfect for that song IMO! Other than that, "Have you ever loved a woman" and GH's "Beware of Darkness" as a suggestion for a new cover!

I'm firmly on the Loan Me a Dime bandwagon as well. I loved what Jimmy Herring did with that song, but as long as Gregg and Derek are playing it it's guaranteed chills.

From an earlier thread on future covers, I would love to hear an early Santana or Peter Green Fleetwwod Mac number, preferably a blues number.

Warren has been all over the map with Mule covering 'Classic" bands and the, I would guess, influences on him.

While I could take it or leave it, Bell Bottom Blues seems like a good guess as several have mentioned.

I still hope someday to hear Morning Dew.

Yes Warren has a mystique about how he approaches the cover tunes, they flow without taking away from it's origin.
