Man I just got through listening to an extraordinary version of "One Way Out" by Sonny Boy Williamson who wrote it and Titled it "I See A man Downstairs". After the thread here I played ABB, rocked the house and toned it down now. This version Sonny is with"The Brian Augur Trinity and Jimmie Page"! There is a mean harmonica in it also! Taking Flute lessons these days I've also noticed flute in songs more now than before. Jethro Tull is a given but how 'bout y'all out there. Any fave harmonica or flute riffs?

Gotta' love the flute intro on Stairway to Heaven. Also at the beginning and end of "Can't You See" by the MTB.

"Kam-ma-lay" and "Sonido Alegre" by the Derek Trucks Band both feature great flute riffs by Kofi Burbridge. I've always loved Latin jazz, and the flute sounds SO good on these tunes.

As for harmonica, anything by Paul Butterfield or Canned Heat's Al Wilson is essential. Wilson's solo on "Boogie Chillun" from the Hooker N Heat album is just about perfection, and Butterfield's playing on the legendary "East-West" is also a must-listen.

FLUTE ...Its a tie for me...2 songs from the same LP...Jethro Tull's 1st LP (also my favorite) "THIS WAS" ... The 2 songs are ..."Serenade To A Cuckoo" & "Dharma For One" .... In "Serenade" ,the Flute riff borrows from the Jazz classic "Sentimental Journey" ...."Dharma" is a killer rock/Jazz track w/an excellent Clive Bunker drum solo ....
"THIS WAS" is also 1 of my fav. LP cover shots ....picutres them as "Elderly'" Gemtlemen ....Jethro TUll ,man...what a band .....
