I don't know if anyone has this volume or not...but I have a question. Disc 2 in this set if absolutely fantastic (1. New Minglewood Blues 2. High Time >> 3. Lost Sailor >> 4. Saint of Circumstance). I was listening to it last night as I was falling asleep and I stumbled on to something. About 4 minutes after Saint of Circumstance ends...the disc fades into an incredible version of Scarlet Begonias >>Fire on the Mountain but this track is still track 4 on the disc and isn't listed on any track listing that I could find.

I thought I was dreaming when I first heard it...it was kind of one of those strange coming out of a sleep moments.

Can anyone explain why this would just randomly be on disc 2 or is there something I'm not aware of?

Same thing happened to me when that first came out back in 99 or so. I thought someone was in my house and put on a different CD.

It's basically a hidden track since they had extra space. The GD was still screwing with you. I guess it was since it was # 13 they played a prank. There's no info in the notes about it either. The version you speak of is from the same tour I think. Someone told me the date and venue once but I forgot.

I was so stunned , I called Steve the Taper Guru who was DJ on Hofstra University's Dead Zone at the time. He gave me the info. He was great by the way. Any LI heads remember him? I have tons of great GD from his show. Full Shows all sound boards. He was a great alternative to the Dead Head Hour which chopped up the shows and the city radio's Morning Dew which played full shows but on Saturday night.

DP # 13 also has a killer He's Gone, dedicated to the IRA's Bobby Sands who died that week. One of the rare GD dedications over the mic.

I have that set also and the 1st time I was listening I was in my car which has a 6 disc player so when 1 disc ends it rolls to the next , it was a 3 hour drive so I was going to listen to the whole set begining to end. After I'd listened to the whole thing I checked the track listing as I didn't remember Scarlet Begonias or Eyes of the World on the track listing. Just figured someone was just coming back from a "smoking" break when they put the track listing together !

That was a nice surprise for me as well. I only have about 4 or 5 dick's pick's, but that one's my favorite. My 2nd favorite Scarlet>Fire, as well.

Just found another unlisted track on a GD vault release.

If you have the 2-11-69 Fillmore East disc, when the second disc ends with We bid You Goodnight let it play out and you'l hear a few more minutes of crowd noise and then a quick version of Cosmic Charlie. I don't know if this qualifies as a" hidden track" but Cosmic Charlie isn't listed anywhere on the CD notes.

I like this CD a lot. It's sort of a tighter late 60's Dead than usaual. They were opening for Janis Joplin so they had limited time and where more compact in their jams.
