Among web crawling, I found a fantastic page about ABB Duane era.
There are some pics on date 10/16/1971, 1 day before his last show.
Pics quality are not good, but I feel cool.
Please check it out.

Masahiko, those are cool pics! I especially like the last one, with Duane getting into it. Too bad the photographer had to sneak around and directly disobey Gregg to take the backstage shots!

Thanks for sharing the link!

Although given what that show turned out to be, I'm glad he did...

Thanks for pointing it out, Linnie--I didn't have my speakers on before. The keyboardist is obviously familiar with "Statesboro Blues," but his version leaves something to be desired, wouldn't you say?

JHorse, I can't tell who those two guys are, but now I've noticed something: Once Duane takes off his jacket, he's got a Western shirt on that's not too different from Dickey's. That I noticed before, but backstage Gregg is wearing a Western shirt, too! All three shirts: the dark material at the collarbones and on the cuffs. I sincerely hope Berry, Jai, and Butch weren't going Western that night, too!

Yeah, the digital music is a little too much for me. I love Statesboro Blues and I love the Chipmunks, but the Chipmunks doing Statesboro Blues just isnít right. I've seen those pictures before. I think several of those pictures can be found in the Duane Allman photo section.

Maybe they were playing with Cowboy?

or, maybe, they went shopping together, found the shirts in their sizes and budgets......I mean weren't they limited in their expenses during those years?

Cheers

Your comments reminded me of a Rolling Stone article, Carlos. It was published 1971.11.25, four weeks after Duane's death: "Hittin' the Note with the Allman Brothers Band" by Grover Lewis, whom the band couldn't stand at the time and after publication for (1) his condescending portrayal of their accents, (2) his portrayal of them as a bunch of hicks, (3) the inclusion of some statements by and about Duane that were very hurtful given Duane's death and could easily have been rewritten or edited out before article publication.

Anyway, about the clothes: The writer traveled with the band for a week in October. They got to San Francisco to play Winterland 10.08-09, Friday and Saturday, exactly one week before "our" gig in Marietta, Ohio:

"Pausing at the hotel only long enough to drop their gear, Duane and Greg {spelled this way the whole article} and Berry Oakley race back to North Beach {SF district} on a shopping binge. In a super-expensive leather shop, Duane freaks over a handtooled shirt with a colored panel on the front that resembles a drive-in theater facade in, say, Ponca City, Okahoma; he eagerly pays $200 for it. Within minutes, he and Greg have dropped over $500 for a few shirts and trousers, and then Butch Trucks, accompanied by his slender, shy wife, Linda, briefly joins the group and buys a cowboy-style coat. Then Dicky shows up, looking for a maxi-length white leather dress for his Indian lady friend."
