Anyone else seen this guy's informercial? He's selling a cheap acoustic/electric guitar along with a small amp and lesson DVD'S. About 200 bucks for the whole package. Not really a bad deal, but he keeps comparing his cheap guitar to his $5800 (Martin) acoustic, and saying how much "shinier" the Estabon model is!!! Shines like jewelry! It's really pretty hilarious, he hits the overdrive on the little amp and says you can sound "just like Metallica and those other bands". But it sounds like crap, like you would expect. Whenever this is on, it's like a carwreck- I can't look away!! PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME ORDER ONE.........

Yeah, I see that thing on late-night commercial access all the time. It's pretty funny, especially when you've heard people talk about how crappy the guitar is. (For one thing, it's made of particle board, like some of our cheap furniture.) In particular when he hooks it up to the amp and talks about making it sound like Metallica, the result is awful. You can tell he's aiming at people who don't know anything about guitars- he talks about the electronics like they're something very unusual and keeps saying how beautiful the guitar is when it's completely average-looking, and who cares about that anyway? I hope people don't actually buy this crap.

When I saw Steve Kimock about a month ago he joked that he and Mitch Stein (the other guitar player in Kimock's band) were "way into Estabon". I got a chuckle out of that.

I've caught this a few times . . . not with the amp, just the guitar, some strings, a gig bag, some picks . . . 99.00.

Did you know he had a car accident and lost his sight? Then he didn't play for 10 years. But he returned to Top the Billboard charts.

The Magic of Estabon.

A beautiful guitar

Carrying case

Strap

Strings

Picks

and an incredible DVD where Estabon teaches you to play like a master.

More than anything in life, he wanted to offer people a guitar that they could afford. Not only did he do that but it is equal to his very expensive guitar.

Just sit with the instructional DVD and learn Estabon's 4 songs. You will be a master in days.

All for 3 easy payments of $33.33

This beautiful guitar for under $100. It almost makes Estabon cry.

But wait

It isn't just the guitar.

It's the guitar
case
strap
strings
and the instructional DVD for only $99.99

Estabon has taken time away from his sold-out world tours to bring us this offer. His many million selling albums are currently roaring up the charts.

Did you know that he lost his eyesight to a drunk driver?

The Incredible Estabon.

The amp deal is the new one. Much higher quality commercial. With a full band! See Estabon rip it up.

Plus the nerdy guy selling with him plays the meanest Chuck Berry leads around.

i have recorded both of them.

I can do a B&P if people are interested.

He dresses like a cross between Stevie Ray and Roy Orbison. He's bad, he's nationwide. Only $100 more for the amp? Wow- so I don't forget, I'll order before midnight tonight!!

Don't forget the pick-up so you can sound like Metallica thru the amp.

Call right now and Chef Tony will throw in a set of knives!

Stevie Ray and Roy Orbison! That is so true and so funny!

You know Estabon (Steven from Pittsburg!) is laughing all the way to the bank. Sad but probably true is that he has probably sold as many of his CDs from QVC as the ABB has sold the conventional way. Frankly I like the guy and don't find his music that abhorent. I'd love to be able to do something similar and make a living. I wouldn't have any problem justifing it either. People just starting out on guitar don't have a clue could do much worse. Thousands of gutar gods started out on ol' Sears Silvertones which were probably priced the same in relation to inflation.

Hey Mule hey. I wish the Steve would slip me a little on the side. I sure could use it. I'm actually the guy who sounds like he hasn't played the guitar in 10 years. Lol! You know there are supposedly elements of truth in Estabon's bio. Of course C.C. De Ville, guitarist for Poison, studied with Bernstein or somebody like that. Funny but I bet Bernstein's resume doesn't mention De Ville or Segovia's Steven from Pittsburg!

I am just having fun with him. He plays a decent guitar i am sure.

Maybe he should tour with Yanni and Andre Rieu!

I think a tour w/ Zanfir, master of the pan flute, would rock. They should open the Beacon shows this year.

Warren's already jammed with Zamfir and Slim Whitman way back when the ABB toured Europe. I believe Slim joined the boys onstage for a rousing Whipping Post, first time with a yodel.

This past semester, one of my grad school professors told us a story about how when he was news director at a Denver TV station, one of their anchors made a joke on air about a Zanfir concert being in town (which was not true), and how the phone lines blew up with all the people calling in to find info about when and where...pretty funny.

Estaban is somewhat lame. I ran into one of his guitars last week, a friend of mine's kid got one for Christmas last year. As for a cheap guitar, you would do better to get a 100$ Epiphone or Johnson. And, on his infomercial, he says that with the amp you can 150 different sounds out of it, which basically means moving the knobs from 9 to 8, then to 7, then to 6 and so on.

But, if what he is selling gets kids or newbies into playing the guitar by giving them a way of getting some kind of sound out of it fairly soon, then what the heck. I love it when folks that actually think they can play, talk up why it sucks, and talk up the jargon, and act like they are above it, and so on. In that regard Charlesinator is dead on right. many folks started on a Sears Silvertone, including me, or a Harmony and so on.

As with teaching kids how to fish, if they don't catch anything they get bored and quit. If they do get into some fish, it holds their attention and you make progress. Same with the guitar. If you can have them get at least some sound out of it, it may trigger the bug.

The best and funniest reaction to that attitude would be for me to play a cheap Estaban guitar right next to someone who thinks they know what they are talking about playing an expensive guitar, and me wiping the floor with them. NOw that's worth an infomercial.

Derek H

Yep- it's probably better than my first guitar. That thing was HARD to play!! I'm glad I stuck with it. Beginners today can get a better guitar real cheap to get started on. AND IT'S SOOOO SHINY!!!!!

Chill Scotty! If'n ya don't like the thread, gee wonder what you can do?

Estaban's pkg. contains: guitar, cable, amp, case, strings, strap, picks, tuner(the single most important thing to learning how to play IMO), instructional DVD or video, plus a couple of those best selling Estaban CD's and I may be missing a few other inclusives. Add it up y'all slowhands? Bought separately it would be way easily over $300.00-$350.00. The Fender Strat Pack is in that range and no instruction. Hell Estaban is giving a whale of a deal.

Who knows maybe a future Warren Haynes may pick one up. What y'all afraid of? Somebody might steal your "Stairway To Heaven" licks. Seriously I have a Strat and a Les Paul, but the guitar I play 90% of the time is a Kamico (that's Japanese for Gibson) F-hole acoustic with the strings 1/2 inch off the neck easily using a piece of bicycle tubing for a slide. Drives my old lady nuts! Hmm.....wonder why I play it. Lol!

No **** John. I'd flip if he said (like Ron Popiel), "Now go tell somebody and I'll throw in the hat and shades as well."
