this doesn't really excite me, i'd rather just see them play 2-3 great songs instead of an acoustic set

it would be cool to see an acoustic set because it would be something different than what we are currently used to, but i'd rather see some kick ass solo by derek on High Cost which, to me, is such an under appreciated song

Would love for them to bring back "Loan me a dime"!!! from 2000. That was awesome. Also I think they could kick some serious booty with True Gravity.

I'd like to see them cover a little more of The Dead, plus Lynard Skynard, and Little Feat. I know they do Franklin's Tower as a Dead cover, but I'd like to hear them do a lot more stuff from The Dead, plus cover a few Skynard 'n' Little Feat songs. Here are some seperate wishlists for each, plus a random list:

The Dead:
Fire On The Mountain
The Wheel
Pride Of Cucamonga
Jack Straw

Lynard Skynard:
Simple Man
Sweet Home Alabama
The Ballad Of Curtis Lowe
Free Bird

Little Feat:
Spanish Moon
Fat Man In The Bathtub
Dixie Chicken
Cajun Girl

Various:
Night Of 1000 Stars (Phil Lesh & Friends)
The Way It Is (Bruce Hornsby)
Smooth (Santana)
Pride and Joy (Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble)

Hey Butch -
Better take some notes on these requests (Both mine and others), it's almost Beacon season!

I keep saying the same songs every time this comes up, but every year I get to knock a couple songs off my list. Let's hope I can do it again this year!

Kind of Bird
Loan Me a Dime
I'm Not Crying
Walk Like a Man
True Gravity

Some more Grateful Dead tunes would be nice. They also seem to do Dylan and The Band pretty well, though I'm not sure what other songs would go well.

I'm not sure I would welcome the ABB turning into a covers band, per se. If they were to do more covers, however, it would be great to hear them explore their jazz roots, like more Coltrane/Shorter tunes (such as Footprints, or Impressions, Crescent, etc)

I just want them to shake it up. In the context of the songs that 'should' get played, inprovise off of them.

The more I listen to Santana, the more i realize that soooo much of that music fits. IMHO

I get what you're saying-the more improv, the better!! there is nothing better in rock and roll than listening to the drums of the ABB interacting with Derek or Warren or Dickey or Duane when they are soloing

A couple I would like to hear...

"You Know I Oughta Leave," a nice little Warren song that was played a few times early in the '96 tour and then vanished. Great mid-tempo groove, tailor-made for that Allman Brothers sound.

"Pegasus." A long shot, I know, but damn! I think the current lineup would absolutely kill it. They did "Need Your Love So Bad," so it seems like the "Enlightened Rogues" album is back in play. And apparently Dickey has no intention of playing it at his solo gigs.

"T-Bone Shuffle." Can't go wrong with T-Bone, right? Another groove that is tailor-made for the Brothers.

"Outskirts Of Town." Seems like it would be a perfect fit for the current lineup.

"Get On With Your Life." The more slow blues the better, I say!

And my number one request, by far, is "True Gravity." I shudder to think of the possibilities.

Well, it looks like True Gravity is the winner! Slide Guitar Tom, if the ABB didn't play any of those Skynyrd tunes when they were actually on tour with LS, it's pretty doubtful they'll play them. Many people have commented that the Allmans/Skynyrd tour was the first time in a while that the ABB didn't interact with the opening band at all. Draw your own conclusions.

Also, I love Santana, but can your really hear Warren or Gregg singing "Smooth"? I say Soul Sacrifice!

off of the Layla album:
"have you ever loved a woman"

and more stuff like "a change is gonna come" "been loving you to long" and "dreams to remember", Warren and Gregg can sing the hell outta R&B tunes

Actually "I Know I Oughta Leave" is a Dickey song, so I doubt that will pop up. Warren used to sing it. (Although Gregg sang the first performances of it in 95". I think they all abandoned that, because Dickey used the end guitar riff in his later song "Let's Get Together". So, I don't think that will come back.

Exactly, and thankfully we won't be hearing them at The Beacon or any other time for that matter...yuck.

A couple of those Little Feat songs might be cool though...

I'd go with that one Lefty for sure - with Warren on vocals.

Who said Gregg or Warren might sing it? I was thinking of the band doing Smooth, but inviting a guest vocalist to sing it. Although I DO like the idea of the ABB doing Soul Sacrafice...Butch and Jaimoe would be going through drumsticks like a plate of pancakes!

But now that I think about it, the ABB doing Skynard would sound a little.....awkward. Maybe I should change my second list....

Back to the drawing board!
