Well looks like the Best Bass-line thread did pretty well so how about another...

Even though I'm a guitar player I'm avoiding best guitar songs because there are a million of them. So instead lets look at songs where keyboards - whether it be piano, Hammond B-3, Mellotron, Harpsicord or Synthesizer played a key role in defining the songs intent and content...It could be the main instrument or maybe just a cool keyboard part or solo which give the song its flavor...

Well here we go again...A few off the top of my head.

ABB - Jessica (Chucks finest moment), Gregg on Stormy Monday, PLease Call Home
Beatles - Hey Jude, Let It Be
ELP - there must be 50 of them but...how about Hoedown, Tarkus or Karn Evil 9
Bob Dylan - Isis...oooh good one
Pink Floyd - many of them but how about "Echoes", "Any Colour You Like" or "Great Gig In The Sky"
Coltrane - My Favorite Things...McCoy Tyner chillin'
Miles Davis- All Blues...The great Bill Evans.
Herbie Hancock - Chameleon
Led Zep - No Quarter - nice Mellotron from J.P. Jones
Widespread Panic - Tall Boy
Genesis - Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

OKay I hand it off to you...lets go peeps.

the dual wurli/b3 intro solo that bernie worrell(sp?) and chuck leavell do before 'Soulshine' on Gov't Mule's 'live with a little help from our friends' album. that is awesome

I'm not sure which Genesis track you've got in mind, but I love the keyboard solo from The Colony of Slippermen.

Wakeman - Yes - Yessongs - Excerpts from the Six Wives of Henry the VIII

This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) - Talking Heads...well anything off of Stop Making Sense
anything off of Herbie Hancock's Headhunters
"High Falls" - Chuck Leavell
"Linus & Lucy" - Vince Guaraldi
"13 Death March" "Root Down" - Jimmy Smith
"Riders on the Storm" - Ray Manzarek
"Willow Weep For Me" - Lou Rawls
"Right On" - Marvin Gaye

..that's probably enough for now

almost forgot "One Mint Julep" by Ray Charles

I meant the title song for "The Lamb" Droogie because of that beautiful piano intro...

I have always dug the vibe, feel and sound of the piano intro to Ain't Watin' Time No More...instantly recognizable.

96 Tears ? and the Mysterians

Probably more "memorable" than a "best". Definitely distinctive.
