Well let's try something that's (maybe) not so polarizing...

Not counting sports events, what's your favorite show? I think I might be the only one to say this, but I still plan to watch only one series every week...NYPD Blue.

And WHEN is The Shield going to EVER return???

Try LOST. I think it's really good. Very creative.

I like MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge) on Spike TV and Good Eats on the Food Network.

Funny you mention that Brendan, cause just today there was an article on that in USA Today...bout how people theorize about the "real" meaning of the show, etc. If you are a fan you would enjoy the article, suppose it's up on their webiste. I missed the first few episodes and wish I hadn't. Cause if it doesn't get too loony they can really do some things with that premise. What's the deal with some dude hearing radio waves??? And the eternal question...Mary Ann or Ginger??? I still go with Lovey...give me the cash...

Speaking of the Food Network, I like the show where they show how foods are manufactured. I always enjoy watching shows on how products are produced...amazing stuff.

Hardball, sometimes Seinfeld or Friends reruns. I'm not much of a TV person.

Sorry, Sang, Otie, and all--it's not The Emily Procter Hour. The only drama I try to watch every week:
Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Much better than the other L&Os and the CSIs.
Vincent D'Onofrio stars as a detective who really has a way of getting inside the suspects' heads--excellent actor, excellent character, solid stories that are neither cliched nor at all gory.

I watched CSI: New York tonight, and I am reminded how much I feel my time is wasted on all the forensic stuff in the CSIs and elsewhere anymore: grisly dissections and other lurid handling of corpses in various states of damage and decomposition, constant dusting for fingerprints and other technical procedures for evidence gathering, lab machines that don't exist in the real world (to a smooth-modern soundtrack)--probably 15 minutes of each CSI episode.

On L&O:CI they don't waste time with courtroom and other legal wrangling, either, like on the original L&O, though they do deal with the D.A.'s office (Courtney Vance) in formulating strategy. Also, D'Onofrio doesn't go out of his way to be a grim hard*ss cop all the time, like the guy and Martiska Hargitay on L&O: SVU and everybody on NYPD Blue. He psychologically intimidates the perps, but at first subtly--without verbally or physically brutalizing them (the latter of course provides a cheap vicarious thrill for many viewers). Once he's certain which suspect is the perp, he gradually turns up the mental heat, before going in for the kill at the end of the episode.

L&O: CI doesn't delve much into the detectives' personal lives, like NYPD Blue, especially--just expound the mystery and show D'Onofrio (as Det. Robert Goren) and his partner (Det. Eames) piecing the bits and pieces all together and figuring out how to get to the perps. D'Onofrio portrays Goren with plenty of interesting personal idiosyncrasies, and we know Goren's mother's mental illness spurred an early attraction to psychology in him, but we don't need to be distracted with personal melodrama extraneous to the mystery solving.

Sundays at 8 CST on NBC.

You should check it out anyway. And, every other Saturday, ABC runs the past two episodes back to back, so you can catch up a bit. The only problem starting now is that you've missed a lot of the background of the various characters. I would explain some, but it would literally take hours.

Only shows I schedule around are NYPD Blue, CSI Miami and CSI. I'm not as impressed with CSI NY.

I watch ER occasionally, but it doesn't grab my attention like it used to.

I also like the Daily Show whenever I catch it.

My other favorites used to be Homicide and X-Files. Homicide was an edgy show. I also liked the show with Jessica Alba, for various reasons....

Wasn't that the number one show in Iowa? Or was it behind Green Acres and HeeHaw?
