Not even Clinton won more than 50% of the vote, as W just did. And, he won the popular vote by 3 and a half million. I am proud of all who braved the rain and long lines here in Ohio, and in every state, even though the young folks did not deliver and come out to vote like they said they would. But the large turnout in every state, other than that, was a good thing. Democracy is not easy.

As for those who didn't vote at all, pathetic. Next time those of us that do vote should vote in a tax on only the ones who didn't vote.

DH

Although I did vote and I believe people should vote, I believe people have the right NOT to vote if they so choose. After all, in my mind, America is about freedom.

Why because the process worked and the people spoke? I love it, it's sad day for America, what a load of garbage. When my wife went to vote last night, on the upper west side of NYC, (probably the most liberal place on earth), she said people were standing on line talking about, "How could anyone ever vote Bush/Cheney, you must have something wrong with you." blah blah blah blah....These people are all for freedom and free speech and the voting process as long as it's what they support, otherwise you're an idiot and it's a sad day for America. I come to realize more and more that is not the right that is devisive but the left. The people have spoken, deal with it...it's a great day for America!!

Exactly, they should do away with the electoral votes.... such a crock of sh!t.. it should be mainly popular votes.. that's it.

274
+ 252
------------
526 (12 Electoral Votes missing) But even if Kerry got those 12 he would of still lost to Bush...

I wish you could have a chance to sit down with the founding fathers (you know, the Constiution & Bill Of Rights guys?) and explain why that is. If you don't know why they instituted the electoral college, you have homework to do.

Besides, Bush won the popular vote so what is your point?

I know all about the electoral college and that, and Bush won the electoral vote too.

Do away with the electoral collage? That is a smart idea! Anything else you might want to do to start a civil war. It is a Republic not a Democracy. Read both the Federalist and Anti Federalist Papers. I for one am in favour of repealing the seventeenth amendment to the Constitution before even touching the electoral collage.

Just because W won does not mean everyone has to be happy about it. I do not believe anyone on this thread said he did not win the election rather were expressing their feelings about it.

That is healthy way to express ones disappointment in the direction some people feel our government and country is headed.

I think this is going to be the norm for now on. Since Clinton was in office, this country has been divided. Democrats are as angry today as Republicans were when Clinton won.

Both sides demonize the candidates. Mark my words, in 2008 when Hillary runs vs Rudy, both these candidates will be hated by the other side.
