Not sure what you mean by commercial. Sell outs at times but I wouldn't put Ozzy and aerosmith in league with the Simpson girls.

I mean by Commerical, will do anything for money. Ozzy- Third season of his reality show, Battle for Ozzfest, not that he has a choice, Sharon spends most of his money. I like Ozzy.

Aerosmith- Will play the superbowl with nsync and britney spears? Come on, how are you suppose to keep your credibility with that?

On the other hand, Aerosmith has been well-known to the younger generation for years. The singles from "Get a Grip" (Livin' on the Edge, Amazin', Crazy, and Cryin') got enormous play on MTV, they had a big hit single on the Armageddon soundtrack a little more recently, and their newer albums have been geared toward the younger audience and had some successful singles. New people heard them - Super Bowl audience of 1 billion and everything - and I'm sure the gig paid very handsomely, but I think the younger generation knows who Aerosmith is.

Of course, but to me it's like they lost their credibility... I havent really listened to them since I was shocked with that appearence with Brittney spears and nsync.... I would of been a happy camper if they played alone, that would of been kick ass.

What you are really saying is "who sells out?". Commercial music is mainstream tunes played on adult contemp. stations.

Truth is Aerosmith could care less if you or I respect them. They are making a fortune. Far more than they ever did when I liked their albums. i can do without cryin' lyin' dyin' and all the other singles they put out now. In an interview, perry said they did the blues album to play music they like. Shouldn't they always play the music they like?

as far as in it for the $$$. KISS are the all-time champs. it was always about money.

Who can ever forget the FOUR solo albums KI$$ released the same day?

Linnie, I like the Eagles, and took my son Derek to see them last year.

He is now 12, and they are his favorite band.

Number two is ABB, and the Mule is third.

The kid DOES have taste.

How about The Who?

Happy Jack now sells Hummers.

Remember the uproar when the Who were the first band to do a Sponsored Tour?

What's the difference between being shrewd in marketing and selling out?

I look for "credibility" in my news source.

Not a Rock n Roll band.

It's hard to criticize a band for franchising a song. Such an easy payday. Residual's are King. I remember a few years ago Jessica was in the background for Ford Commercials.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned the Rolling Stones. The Who did their first farewell tour in late 70's or early 80's. Jefferson Airplane were considered "commercial" when their careers took off in the 60's.

Having a song in a commerical, even though the key word is in it "commerical" doesn't make the artist really commerical. I mean, they could have some random artist that no ones ever heard of playing in the background of their commerical and all of the sudden that would make them commercialized? I mean, "Rock & Roll" by led zeppelin is catchy tune for caddies.

I don't really agree with this, because Ace was really in it at first for the music. He just wanted to play. Then you get guys like Gene who want in just for the $$$

Ace got stoned and other people play on the albums. Bob Ezrin had no patience for Ace. The worst part is it never bothered Ace. Imagine someone playing Warren's guitar parts for him.

Poor guys that got rich quick. Two burnt the candle at both ends and the other two just got richer. But they weren't only in it for $$$. They enjoyed the women also.

Buick I believe, not Ford. The commercials still float around the 'Net.

I'll second your objection, Marley. I have a neighbor who occasionally rails against poorly defined powers he must feel control parts of his life somehow. Jews in general (we're too far from New York) sometimes are mentioned in the course of such a rant--or sometimes a person's Jewishness is brought up as the apparent source of a character flaw in an otherwise innocuous anecdote. I speak up to stop that, and now at least my neighbor usually catches and stops himself when he's about to make such an ignorant comment.

Interestingly, some acquaintance was warning me a couple years ago about this young woman he saw me talking with a bit on multiple occasions. Part of his warning was that she was a "Jewish princess" etc. (the "etc." being a euphemism for some stupid anti-Jewish characterizations) and I'd better watch out or she would emasculate me (she was a real terror and man-hater, he was saying). He wouldn't give me many personal details, but this had happened to him when he was trying to get to know her before.

I kept talking with her whenever I'd see her, though, and we've always got along real fine. (She's engaged, so I do steer clear of the more potentially "dangerous" waters between a man and a woman, I suppose.) In the course of things--I think discussing her family--of course she turns out not even to be Jewish but 100% Irish! And never anything less than sweet!

I'm sorry about my post. I wasn't trying to be prejudice towards anyone. I was trying to say Gene is pretty greedy for money.
