I heard a good portion of the Other Ones on Sat. night on WXRT . . . it sounded pretty damned good to me . . . Jimmy H. smoked Franklin's Tower for the closer.

News? Reports? Reviews?

I was there on sunday and the music was stellar.......but I think they went too far at times with the jazzy experimentation....it didn't sound like a dead show so much as it sounded like a Phil and Friends show.......the folk-country vibe was totally missing...It would've been nice to hear a Ramble On Rose, El Paso, Row Jimmy...etc...

That's not a complaint though, because this isn't the Grateful Dead, it's the Other Ones..my only complaint would be that there were too many 'Jamband Kids' there who really knew nothing of the legacy of the band and were acting like selfish morons...I guess I"m being a hypocrite here because I'm only 20

Not to say it wasn't a great time, because it was.....one of the cooler things was the spoken word tent where Mickey Hart sounded incredibly excited about the band, saying they wanted to tour and write new material with Hunter (who also performed an awesome solo set)...and Mountain Girl who talked about the early days and how they all lived in one house and she was sort of the caretaker by default.................Robert Randolph and Karl Denson were good on the sidestage but Jorma Kaukonen was great..........some of..the other ones' highlights were:

Cassidy , Brown Eyed Women, Eyes of the World, Black Throated Wind, Fire on the Mountain, Mountains of the Moon, playin in the band, let it grow, terrapin station, sugar mag and UJB

Quinn,

unfortunately, I wasn't able to get up there saturday for warren's set but from what I heard, he didn't sit in with anyone else. I did check out the mule mobile in the vending village and heard some news about Warren doing an Allen Woody tribute concert with Mike Gordon in Albany in early september

Damn it, I wanted badly to go. I am sure it was a great time. The only tour I ever made fully was further 98 w/ The Other Ones. It was up there with the best times of my life. I can definately understand others feeling differently, if they got to tour with The Dead. But I can't complain. I am however; happy to see some tourdates have generated from all of this. So maybe I'll have a chance to catch a show or two after all. God Speed,--Tim

In reguards to your post Quinn, I can see how lots of people showing up w/out tickets could cause the need for extra personel. And I also read somewhere, the band's "personel request",for all who attend...have a ticket. I also believe that nowadays, it seems that the venues make this request to discourage trouble. I do believe in the music, however; and I believe in the hope that it brings. If there is no hope for a miracle, then that puts some of us out of the picture. Ain't that a bitch. Oh well, if it comes down to it, I'm sure that I would go anyways. I don't think (to tell you the truth) that the band really worries about it. --Tim

Warren played a nice acoustic set, here is the setlist: Patchwork Quilt, Before You Came, Bounty Hunter, New Year's Eve, Beautifically Broken, Tastes, In My Life, Fallen, Stella Blue w/ Rob Barraco, One, Soulshine
You'll notice that Rob Barraco sat in on Stella Blue but he was playing guitar not keyboards, I think it was the first time he has ever sat in with anyone on guitar, he made a couple of mistakes but sounded pretty good. Warren sounded right on as always. A funny moment came when a fan threw a paper airplane with a note on it to Warren, he picked it up and read it and then blushed a little and said 'I can't read this one aloud'. All in all Terrapin Station was a great time, truly a monumental event for the Other Ones.

Peace,
Stone
