Remember that song "Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners ?

I hated that dudes voice....then and now.

As much as I love the sounds of King Diamonds band and Mercyful Fate...sometimes the King's high pitched shrill can get to me....never met a lady who could handle the Kings Voice.

It took me 20 years to get to where I could handle Geddy Lee's voice again....due to the overplay on the radio...but now that I DO NOT listen to radio music....I like Rush again...especially LIVE. I just recently went out and purchased ALL of their commercial live releases.

Still can't handle Freddie Mercury..due to radio burnout.

Dolly Parton..to high and Shrill for me...........

Roseanne Barr singing the National Anthem..........

Probably think of some more later.............

Oh Yeah..that Kevin Kinney dude !

Not saying that these folks are no good...just that I don't care for their voice..they would probably hate mine too........

How about you all ?

Axl Rose... Geddy Lee is a good choice... and whoever the singers are in Boston and Styx.

I think Steve Howe sings on a few tracks on his solo releases. The first time I heard him, I was like, Steve, Steve! How could you?!

Stevie Nicks--a little too warbly for my liking.

And how about (almost) every female pop singer in the last five years? Even the ones with good voices do all that swoopy soul stuff. That just doesn't sound good coming out of a bottle blond tanning bed victim.

Tuna: Good call on Donna Jeanne Godchaux. She was horrible! Off key 90% of the time, I have shows where she comes in and I have made better notes on the toilet. The only thing worse could be her screaming as Weir played the slide. Can't believe she was in the GD for as long as she was

Britney Spears sound like poop when she tries to put a funky tint to her voice. What do I know, I'm in a band and sometimes I have a hard time singing in tune and playing at the same time. Sounds like a dying animal sometimes.

I liked the early Guns 'n' Roses stuff (not a lot but i liked it) but very soon
Axl rose was getting on my nerves. Especially through the extensiive radio airplay
that "paradise city" got. I really started to hate that song and that voice ever since.

Although i perfectly understand why people would pick such voices as those of
Stevie Nicks (nasal like a goat) or Geddy Lee i love both of them.
I couldn't imagine Rush without that voice. It's so much a vital part of their Sci-Fi sound.

In general i really really hate Rap as a singing style. Music is my passion and i react fierce
when subjected to it. Music can get me in a state of bliss but rap really gets on my nerves.
Especially combined with what nowadays is labeled as R&B.

I always was a sucker for Heavy Metal. Especially what was called "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" in the early 1980's (Iron maiden, Saxon etc.) and of course seventies bands such as Black Sabbath. But when Speed and Death metal emerged about twenty years
ago i really hated (and still very dislike) so-called "Grunting" as a vocal style.

I really dislike this heavy metal rapping thing that you hear. I'm not talking about Rage Against the Machine, they pull it off . . . but Slipknot? Some of the Korn stuff. I can't stand that stuff.

Man, I hate when I'm shoppin' in Kroger and the hollerin' and screamin' of Celine Dion comes over "Kroger Radio"........

Even worse than that is when they play Statesboro Blues and follow it with Celine Dion....

The rat bastids!

I was in a bar with a friend about five years ago, when REO Speedwagon came on the jukebox. I started going on about how Kevin Cronin's singing style really annoyed me, espexially on the power ballads, mostly because he'd put an extra "uh" syllable at the end of every line. I'm surprised that I don't recognize almost any song titles, so here are some lyrics to a likely song title, with my added "uhs":

"I Need You Tonight"

How can I show you-u-u-wuh?
I take back what I told you-u-u-wuh;
'Cause something happens when I hold you-u-u-wuh,
And that makes everything all ri-i-igh-tuh.

And oh... oh... i need you toni-i-igh-tuh;
I just need you toni-i-igh-tuh;
I wrote all I can wri-i-i-tuh;
I just need you toni-i-igh-tuh.
etc.

So, I'm sitting there complaining to my friend and imitating how Kevin puts that junk at the end of every line, and when I had my little say, Bob goes, "I put that song on. I like REO."

Oo-whoops--foot in mouth. So, I scramble to say, Sorry, I didn't mean to offend, but there are just certain rock singers whose styles are so artificial, so affected, that it bugged me a lot. For example, I said (trying to change the focus, if not the subject), maybe the worst was Axl Rose of GNR: He's so unnatural, his tone is so pinched and screechy, he . . .

Bob is taking this all in, and the REO song ends, and "Welcome to the Jungle" starts up on the jukebox.

ODR what's happened to you? Checkin out Coot singin in the shower and havin a dog named PeePee.

Now on a serious note

Geddy Lee
Steve Perry
the singer from Triumph
Any other male singer that sounds like he should be a soprano in the Vienna Boys Choir
And many screamers too numerous to name

I never hear Statesboro Blues in my Kroger. I must go to the wrong one.
I only hear Cash Register Blues
