I've always loved playing my guitar along with You Don't Love Me and Mountain Jam but I also love High Falls.

What about you?

I'm not sure I can pick either. When I'm just sitting around, I play Hot 'Lanta a lot, because it's short, has a great melody and I know the whole thing.

Warren's solo in Back Where it All Begins. Turn it up to 11 on that one.

All you people and your questions.... it's too hard man... way too hard. I must say, I jam to come and go blues a lot on the drums, try to switch it up with some hot 'lanta and Liz Reed... the instrumentals I have the most fun, playing the bongos cowbells and main drumline in instrumental illness can make ya break a sweat too, sure is a ball though.

When things are going right, it seems that I often "work up" to "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" (At Fillmore East), often followed by "Whipping Post," at least through the fast-moving opening part of Dickey's solo. Between Duane and Dickey and their four solos, that's 15 minutes of just astounding moderately long-form soloing, plus the several minutes of
Dickey's "ER" intro; the song's great ensemble sections; Gregg's organ solo, which could get either my rhythm backing or solo treatment; brief Butch-Jaimoe duet, which could get my tapping out pitchless rhythms on the strings or rapping my knuckles on the body of the guitar or slapping it like a conga drum;
"WP" opening; verses, with those great Duane fills; then choruses, with those harmonies.

Lyric, we know you're flying along on "Whipping Post" with Berry! You lock in as soon as Duane says, "LyricWriter starts it off."

greetings:

I often put "hittin' the note" on and play along with the headphones on. For my own headspace and for practice. Being a lone drummer, it is fun to pull stuff from both Butch and Johnny and incorparate them together. At friends for the week-end BBQ/jam session, there are always a few Brothers tunes thrown in the mix. One time we did the entire Layla album, my buddy loves Clapton. At practice the other night, the bass player started the opening of "Whipping Post"... I jumped in, then the guitarist and we jammed on it for about 1/2 hour untill our singer came and we went to the Van Halen stuff
I would dig being involved with a strictly ABB cover band. I know alot of places just here in No. Calif where it could gig and do decent draw. Think of the fun that would be.
The bummer is this... I already know the people who could pull it off and they don't wanna commit to practice enough to focus on one major theme long enough. Happy in thier ways I guess Hell...when one moment they're doing slayer songs and the next "while my guitar gently weeps" I often wonder bout sanity

Kind of hard to pick. Our band plays

Statesboro Blues
Stormy Monday
You Don't Love Me
One Way Out
Melissa
I tend to really like to just listen when I put them on. Hard to compete with these boys.

chris, IRSA is a fantastic cd, I have burned 3-4 copies so every cd player has one near/in it.

I enjoy strumming the first part of Melissa, then my fingers get sore and it gets harder and harder to hit the right strings. I can't find the right notes/chords, guitar slips, anger sets in and I realize in frustration 30 was a little late to pick up the guitar.

What, you mean you have to practice? Ohhhh...
