I guess you haven't heard "Brothers Of The Road" or "Reach For The Sky"...
...It makes "Peakin..." sound like "Eat A Peach"

Im with you on those two albums too Eddie.....but the reason I don't like "Peakin" it's because it's a live album

That's a surprising pick for this category.

depends what your criteria is...if you're looking for sloppy play, there are some moments on Peakin' that are downright awful. Dickey plays off-beat or off-key several times, making me wonder whether they even bothered to listen to the disc before they released it.

I love Shades. And I actually like Peakin'. Brothers of the Road has to be the worst. It's like a bad trip, in a disco.

Yeah, Brothers of The Road and Reach For The Sky are the two worst records they ever put out.

Shades of Two Worlds was GREAT!

That Fillmore album has got to be the worst. I mean, those songs just never end. Geesh, you think they would just finish a song so they could get to the next one....but then that one goes on forever, too....terrible album....

Imagine wasting all that album space. They could have crammed at least 10 or more 3 minutes songs on there instead of all those endless jams!

Seriously, Brothers and Reach are the weakest by far. If you don't pick them then you don't own them.

Brothers of the Road with Reach for the Sky a close 2nd.

Shades is great. Maybe 1 or 2 borderline throwawy tunes in there, but the rest is great. It's hard to beat Nobody Knows and Kind of Bird...

Eat A Peach... I mean who was this "Duane" guy anyway? He doesn't use his fingers on the guitar, he uses a piece of glass... HELLO! Use your fingers, dude!

I'd go w/ Peakin' @ The beacon as well- it sounds like a bad bootleg.

Disagree on that one; that would be in the top 5 BEST, IMO.

I have accepted every release with open arms and gave them all a fair shot and for the most part although some have faded, there is something good even in some of the ones that don't hold to the groups standards.

Enlightened roques was a fav of mine for a while but it just has not held up over the years..i thinkl the playing is good but the material is week
"reach for the sky" wasn't all that bad for a while
Brothers of the road was an attempt to not have long songs, just to much of Dickey's vocals for me at the time, as they tip toed out of the disco 80s era.....

But unlike some here, I have high regards for WLD(gets a bad rap but dickey and chuck are great on it) and Shades of two Worlds. .(couple of throw away songs but the playing is top notch)

Do any of you recall Dan Akroyd's SNL critic character Leonard Pynth Garnell?

Here's how he'd review "Brothers of The Road."

"Rubbish. Simply awful. Exquisitely bad." (fake opera clap insert here)
