I'm not sure how many Beach Boys fans there are on here (though the breadth of musical tastes I've seen so far is terrific!) but, if you haven't seen it already, the whole album is available for preview at,

http://www.smilethealbum.com/index.php

Listening through this, it's stunning how well Brian and his band have re-created the original Smile "sound" - I was very wary of this project when it was first announced (why not simply stitch the original 1967 tapes together?), but it looks as though he's pulled off an amazing feat. The album comes out here on Monday.

BTW, for those who still prefer the sound of the originals, a 2004 edit of the 1967 sessions (fashioned in the same structure as the new album) is now available for bit torrent on the revived (YES! IT'S BACK!!!) Sharingthegroove...

Hi Paul.

Yep you know I'm a Brian fan.

I'm really hurting right now to hear this historic recording. I think Brian has finally woken up to where he deserved to be when the heavenly oscars are handed out. He's tryin to change history and I love him for it.

To Brian Wilson. The most talented person in rock n roll

( Only my opinion. But nice of you to listen)

Nice link ...

Hey, if you dig the musicians playing behind Brian, check
out the stuff they've released on their own ...

The band is called The Wondermints .....after listening to them,
you can see why Brian picked 'em !!

Dino

I believe these guys were born to be the new Beach Boys. The Wondermints are GREAT musicians. Brian needed some soulmates to help him change history, and my God these guys delivered. Rock n Roll

Al

HUGE Beach Boy/ Brian fan here.

I actually have a 'boot" of the original "smile" sessons if anyone is interested.

He is playing here in the NYC area next month. Might just have to check that out.

He is playing alot of the Smile stuff as well as the other classic stuff

Brian is also on the cover of Bass Player magazine this month
which includes an interview about the "Smile" project. Plus a couple of
Beach Boys songs w/tabs and music.

Living here in Chgo. "SMILE" is the big hype now, as he will be here Saturday. I want so bad to see him perform that show as I have only seen The Beach Boys together a few times.I am a promoter for The Rolling Stones Tribute Band (yes tribute ), and they are celebrating their 10th Anniversary as a band together, and I am MC'ing it and will "Get My Ya Ya's Out" LOL as well. Those who like Brian, pick up a copy of "SMILE" just released. You will not be disappointed. Brian Wilson is a music genius and that album (disc) is Happy Music...............ya know SMILE!!!!! Enjoy! Peace.........................to all.

Just picked up my copy of Smile today!!!! Can't wait to hear it. Sorry I'm gonna miss the Chi-town show. That will be fantastic, I'm sure.

I love how the musicians are credited with playing ALL of the instruments they use on the album besides the usual ones: carrots, eye patch, celery, and my favorite: the knee slap... too funny!

Islala, LOL, but it's so true. The Beatles put a piece of toilet paper rubbing back and forth through a comb on Sgt. Peppers!!

Hey Paul & Everyone... I'm a big Beach Boys fan and a big SMILE fan. I haven't heard the whole album yet. I'm looking forward to it tonight. I have been a bit wary for the same reasons as others. But mostly, my only problem is that Brian's voice just isn't what it used to be (not that I expect it to be or think that it's horrible) I just wish that they would've used the original tracks mixed with the new! (I'm a huge fan of Carl Wilson's voice, particularly) Therefore the torrent download seems extremely interesting to me, BUT I don't have the technology to use it! So any help would be much appreciated. I'd be open for a trade... I'd love to continue this discussion, if I were not at work!

Not to change the subject, but how about THAT for a sign that a band is old- the tribute band is having its 10th anniversary!

Thats a fine record Dino as is the Bali album. Armando Said would have been a legendary tune if it had came out around 1968.
Right now I'm pretty cheesed off with Amazon because I still don't have my Smile album. Tomorrow I hope

Cheers Mate

Alan
