So what's he trying to accomplish then?

Bush Cites Doubt America Can Win War on Terror
By Elisabeth Bumiller
The New York Times

Tuesday 31 August 2004

Nashua, N.H. - President Bush, in an interview broadcast on Monday, said he did not think America could win the war on terror but that it could make terrorism less acceptable around the world, a departure from his previous optimistic statements that the United States would eventually prevail.

In the interview with Matt Lauer of the NBC News program "Today," conducted on Saturday but shown on the opening day of the Republican National Convention, Mr. Bush was asked if the United States could win the war against terrorism, which he has made the focus of his administration and the central thrust of his re-election campaign.

"I don't think you can win it," Mr. Bush replied. "But I think you can create conditions so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world."

As recently as July 14, Mr. Bush had drawn a far sunnier picture. "I have a clear vision and a strategy to win the war on terror," he said.

At a prime-time news conference in the East Room of the White House on April 13, Mr. Bush said: "One of the interesting things people ask me, now that we are asking questions, is, 'Can you ever win the war on terror?' Of course you can."

If he wants peace he needs to stop sending Halliburton to liberate other countries oil, then they will stop coming here to bomb us to ruin our economy so that we cannot send troops all over hell and half of the world. (yeah that's right I didn't say hell and half of Georgia cause I don't think he knows where that is yet, but once he does he'll start it up with Russia too!)

That is an award winning statement if I've ever seen one! You should really be doing
op-eds for Al Jazeera rather than wasting your time here.

Indeed. I've attended many of his seminars. It is a wonder that none of us have been hauled off to the gulag for expressing our views here or the numerous anti-Bush op-ed writers shot. And I guess its only a matter of time before Michael Moore is charged with high treason and dragged out of his swank digs to the gallows.

Yep, ole Dubya has turned the good old US of A into East Germany on steroids.

I am afraid. Really.

Well, I think opposing Bush would be Voting for someone else. Slinging Anti-American lies.... well that's more like treason in my book. There is No factual basis for the statement she made. Fortunately for her Our President believes in Freedom of Speech so we can say what ever we want........ well unless it questions John K.'s Character. Then it is just wrong.

We probably should pull all our troops from all foreign countries and wait to see what language they will be teaching our male children while the females are forced stay home & hidden or worse raped & abused.

My Theory is that Bush will win by a decent margin because too many democrats will stay home on election day. They may hate Bush but they are smart enough not to trust our future to Kerry.

In all fairness, he did vote for the $87 mil before he voted against it.

I'll tell ya what kills me is he votes against funding the war, then is extremely critical of the President for not supplying our troops with all they need. This guy needs no help. He will self destruct before November. Too many things he doesn't want to talk about.

He says we shouldn't be bothered with things that happened 30 years ago lets talk about issues and who is most qualified to be commander and chief. Well you start talking about his voting record and your attacking him again.

"What's he gonna arm 'em with? SpitBalls!!!!"

Oh absolutely Chad, I do agree. Personally I think Bush will come out of all this with a nice lead, however with the upcoming debates that could very well decrease. I still think by NOV 1 it's going to be real close agian and prolly could go either way? You ready for our little bet?

I think he was practicing sarcasm... You, on the other hand, are holding up a stereotype that was formed - mostly incaccurately - that liberals are cynical pessimists.

I think you're probably right on to what the polls will show up until November. As far as our little bet, I'd say sure, but I can't remember what it was we're betting

The mind is a terrible thing to waste....heh
