What is the deal with the Instant Live series? Everyone seems to be pleased with the quality of the recordings, yet they're so limited in quantity and currently no longer available (with the exception of 8/10/03). On Ebay, copies have been going for $150+ per show (and $1000+ for the entire set), which is ridiculous. I would like to know if it's possible to trade these recordings from someone that has them? What is the ABB policy on this? Is it allowed? Finally, does anyone know if Instant Live plans on re-releasing these shows?

No, they are not allowed to be traded.

The 2004 Instant Live shows will be available through Hittin' the Note at the end of the tour, sometime in October/November I would guess.

Put 'em on your Christmas list!

Has it been confirmed that ALL of the Instant Live shows recorded will be available thru Kid Glove or just a selected few?

I personally think there is a much bigger demand than the bands managment realizes. I was just at the Cleveland show. I "happily" stood in line, in the RAIN along with at least 400 others waiting to pick up my copy after the show. I did not hear a single person complaining about standing in the rain to get a copy. We had all just witnessed an incredible show, and we just wanted to take some of that magic we just experienced home.

I think the number of CDs produced is up to the Instant Live people, not the band. I don't know how they come up with a number.
I was told that the Rosemont theatre held about 4400 people and a very healthy number of them (myself included) got their copies. If they all sound like mine does, they'll all be very happy. Whoever came up with the Instant Live idea is probably quite rich by now, and deservedly so.

I'm very happy with what I've heard of the Rosemont show--keep those Instant Lives coming.

I wonder...are there people out there who buy instant lives, for the express purpose of waiting until they cant be obtained anymore, then getting rich by selling them on EBAY?

I know its legal, but I dont know...something about it just seems slimy to me...

I suspect there are some opportunists out there who will turn around and try and flip these recordings on Ebay, but my guess is that the majority of collectors are true fans who know what they are getting and will hold onto them.

I guess for guys that are used to trading these things for free, this may sound crazy, but I think the price is fantastic. $20 for all that music??? Awesome value.

You know, it's funny you guys should mention the Rosemont Theatre Instant Live show: I want to make it clear that I don't mean this as a complaint at all, just as a comment, but I think it's the worst sounding one, at least out of all the 2003 Instant Lives and the 9/2/04 Rockford show. - Again, just a comment. I couldn't be happier to be able to buy the whole show and not have to tape it myself! I hope they do more and more of this and make them available to all of us. I'd love to get my hands on more 2004 Instant Lives.

Kid Glove/Hittin' the Note will have all of the 2004 ABB IL shows available shortley after the tour is over.

I'm a realist and know that many will copy these shows before we have them available. But I also know that many of the true fans who get burned copies will also buy the originals from the ABB/Hittinthenote as well - thank you! Those that don't...take money directly out of the ABB/HTN pockets. Money that we use to try and bring you more archive series CDs and a better magazine.

It's a good question to ask and the ABB has been so good to tape traders that I hope everyone will recognize this and do the right thing.

Joe, Thanks for the update!

BTW, Am I correct in saying that the band does not allow sbd patches anymore?
Cause some are actually calling the Instant Lives true sbd's from the board itself.

Thanks Mucho!

I have a tapers copy of Red Rocks but would pay for a sound board recording of the shows as well.

JNB,
Sorry I missed you at Rockford last night...tried to find the HTN tent, but couldn't find you...

Anyway, count me in on the entire 2004 IL run. Will there be a pre-order like last time?

Thanks for everything

Hi Clay - how ya doin?!

It's been a long time since anyone has gotten soundboard patches, as far as I know...

Sandman - really sorry we missed you. My wife's family is from Rockford so we took the night off and enjoyed the show with aunts and uncles and friends.

Once the Brothers get off the tour in October the Instant Live masters will be sent to the production facility. How fast this happens is up to the ABB management. I would like to do a pre-order because it helps us know how many to print...we will see - stay tuned!

JNB

BTW, the 2004 price is $25.

And to be able to ge a copy of that Rosemont show for 25 bucks is sick.

And anyone who complains about the sound of it is like someone complaining about the size of Pamela Anderson's implants.

What ever happened to the PERFORMANCE? Geez.

I was at the Atlantic City show Saturday night, which by the way was great. I've never heard of the Instant Live premise, or hadn't till after the show when it was too late to put an order in for one. I'm really hoping the show gets released later since it was kind of a birthday present to me from my wife and I'd love to have a copy as a memento. Gregg came in with the vocal to "Every Hungry Woman" a little early after one solo section but I hope it doesn't affect their decision to release it. A friend of mine told me the band does a super version of "Layla" which I've never heard. Which Instant Live that is currently available for purchase, or will be, has "Layla" on it? Thanks.

Mikhail, there are some Instant Lives from last year that have Layla. There are some from this year as well and they will be available at www.hittinthenote.com sometime at the end of October, the end of the fall tour. Keep checking here as I think they are doing pre-orders for the 2004 shows. Check the setlists (click on "setlist" on the left of this page) to see what looks good to you.
