Crikey! This one almost slipped by me! The DTB will be here (Park West) on Friday, 9/17. Tickets go on sale THIS SATURDAY at 10:00 a.m, 20 bucks a pop. I'm pretty sure it's general admission over there, so I'm just getting one for myself.

Let's plan a meet before the show. ABB 9/1 and (maybe for me) 9/2, DTB 9/17,

. . . 'twas in the summer . . . or early fall, . . . I saw my favorite bands . . . I saw them all . . . they're on their way . . . so I say today . . . I'll be sittin' on top of the world.

Ticketmaster and DTB (sony) email.

I promise not to spend the night leaning up against a wall holding my gut (again).

For those of you who weren't here back then and are wondering what the heck we're talking about, back in Oct. of 2002, Mule and DTB played the same week. I went to both shows with the Sang brothers ( ). Mule was on Wednesday, I think. My stomach was hurting, but I thought it was mostly due to the huge dinner we had in Greek Town (where we learned that of the four at our table, I was the only one who had seen the Pamela and Tommy video, or at least, would admit it). So, I was sort of uncomfortable, but nothing major, except when I had to keep up with Sang on the walk from the car to the venue (he's a big dude, and walks like he think's somebody's going to finish all the beer before he gets there).

It gradually got worse, and by Saturday, I was in agony most of the day, and was really only comfortable while lying down. But, I had two tickets to my first DTB show, and I wasn't missing that for nuttin.' I managed to make it all the way through the first of the two-song encore, then I had to go.

Was diagnosed Monday afternoon, had the surgery Monday evening. It didn't burst, but it was engorged to dangerous levels, and leaking, I think. You know the worst part of the whole experience? That f*cking barium drink you have to imbibe before they put you in the fax machine (or whatever that was). I had to drink like a half gallon of that stuff, and it is horrendous. Just thinking about it now, two years later makes me shudder. I had a Fresca a couple months ago, and I almost puked from that, the tastes are so similar.

I saw that listing go up yesterday as well--plan on hitting this one too. Somehow I ended up on a Jam Productions mailing list (I think I signed up for a drawing at Taste of Randoph a few weeks back), and their early warnings are pretty good. Mule listings are staring to pop up nationally for September, but nothing in Chicago yet. I don't know about you guys, but I'm hoping for another 2-night stand.

TopDroog, I can feel your pain. I had appendicitis last year--thought I had the flu or somthing. Mine burst during surgery, and I had all kinds of problems.

There were a few things that were worse with my experience, but that barium certainly ranks in the top five. I had mine right before my second "vacation" in the hospital. With me, I have a check up visit with my Dr., and he sent this vat of the stuff home with me. He tells me to drink the stuff before I come to the hospital for an MRI or something like that. I wasn't feeling too good by then, and I was having trouble keeping stuff down.

Now, for those of you who've never had the pleasure of drinking that barium crap, imagine mixing up tang that is a few years past the "use by" date. Then, instead of using water, use milk that is just past the expiration date, and use only enough milk to make the mix nice and gritty. mm-mm good.

So anyway, if you drink this vat of stuff, you feel like a real trooper. The real b#@$% of the real thing--as soon I got to the hospital, they made me drink another vat of the damn stuff!

You just never forget the flavor of that stuff, do ya Droog? Screw all that bug eating on Fear Factor--just make 'em drink barium!
