Tim posted this on the Listserv:

NOW, as a reward for your patience, Kid Glove is very happy and proud to
announce the 3rd archival release from the Allman Brothers Band. Recorded
in their hometown of Macon, GA on February 11, 1972, this 2-CD set shows
the majesty and the power and the resilience of the five-man band as they
carried on the dream following the loss of Duane Allman. This period was
very pivotal in the existence of the ABB, and as is clearly evident by this
recording, they had the strength and courage to continue to make incredible
music. This CD features five songs not previously released on the archival
series, in particular Aint Wastin Time No More, Les Brers in A minor, and a
raucous version of Hoochie Coochie Man from Brother B.O. Go to our website
at www.hittinthenote.com and look in the New Merchandise section for a more
detailed description of this CD.

We are offering a special subscription rate to Hittin the Note magazine if
you order this new archival release - $5.00 off a 1-year subscription! Get
all the latest news about your favorite bands and artists, the ABB, Govt
Mule, Derek Trucks Band, and many others, as Hittin the Note brings you in-
depth coverage of these and many others, as well as a copious quantity of

I'm looking forward to hearing this, based on Goliath's review over on the guestbook, Capt. Skipper has worked his magic again. God bless Capt. Skipper and all involved in getting this release out to us. I'm looking forward to many more archive releases.

Now here is a show I haven't heard. I don't think good quality audios of this show have been traded. So this will be a NEW show for some of us. Whooo hooo.

I'm listening to it right now. The way that everyone stepped up to try to fill the void that Duane's passing left is extraordinary. This is easily the best recording of the 5 man era I have heard, and one of the best shows from any era.

This night, Gregg was in superb form, singing with Ray Charles like intensity. He was playing, too. Right on top of the songs, stepping out-stepping up.

Jaimoe and Butch pouring their entire being into the mix..... just concentrating on what they are playing will keep me occupied for many, many more hours.

I am so proud of Dickey, listening to this show. A brilliant, virtuoso performance. This is the emergence of Dickey Betts, guitar hero, the inspiration to a generation of the young guitarists of the time, and for me still, to this day.

I am still coming to grips with Berry Oakley's playing in this difficult time. I would describe it as "beautifully desperate". Fierce and melodic. Duane had this quality in his playing that is very difficult to explain, but it was like a madman, a frenzied power, I don't know how to explain it, but he taught Berry about it, and to a more or less greater extent, the rest of the band. Berry is all over each and every one of these tunes, channeling something that was both exhilirating, but also a little scary. What can I say, he was goddamn hoochie coochie man...Get ya some, thanks to TBTB (the powers that be) for such wonderful product!!!!!

What does this mean? As far as the archival series goes, this is number 3, right? So no version of this show was ever released in archival form. So how is the show now five songs longer? This explanation makes this release sound like a Re-issue with live tracks that were previously unissued. I guess I am missing something here. And I don't think anything other than low quality versions of this show were being traded. I'm right about this aren't I? I mean, I don't have this show, but I think I have seen a couple of traders trading B quality audios of it.

What we mean is that those five songs have never appeared on any archival release before...

Willie Howard said it right - you can feel the painful absence of Duane and yet the power and majesty of this band still comes through!

Long live the memory of Brother Duane Allman!

Well I'm looking forward to getting this release. I certainly remember the 5-piece line-up of the ABB playing at Cameron Indoor Statium, the Saturday (5 Feb, 1972) before they did the Macon show. You certainly could tell the band was still going through the greiving process, but they put on one of the most heartfelt, soulfull performance they I have every witness from any band, and I'm sure a lot of what I felt and hear is going to come through on this archival release.

Have Recordings. From the database

CDR AUD marco
2 disc show

CDR A- Unknown phillybob

CDR B Unknown GlennBoireau

CDR Ungraded linus
Has moments where quality is quite good.
lots of audience comments/noise,
some VERY rough spots. completists only

****************************************************

So it's fair to assume that the 2/11/72 release is not the general
poop audio version that was in limited circulation. This should be
one goal of a release, to release a better source, to introduce
old fans, and new fans to and old audio from an unheard source.
Looks like a good plan. So maybe we are going to hear a show from each year.
Is 1973 next?

The Macon release is soundboard, 7.5" IPS, 1/4"stereo reel to reel.

IMHO, start to finish, it is probably our best sounding archive recording so far...

Still, it is a 32 year year old analog tape...

What is somewhat eerie to me is that it starts off with Dickey Betts playing slide on Statesboro Blues, which is what Dickey kicked off his show with just a few weeks ago - when I saw him at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta. When I heard Dickey do that I was immediately transported back to the early 70's and missing Duane all over again.

As far as each year, I don't know...it's just evolving as we go...

Really looking forward to ordering this, JNB - as soon as I can figure out why the heck HTN doesn't want to accept my CC details! (yes, I do have plenty of credit on it!! Something wrong with my address details, allegedly)

Oh well, looks like it'll have to be a transatlantic phone call, tomorrow morning...

Hi Paul,

Sorry we're having trouble processing your card.

Unfortunately, overseas is where we get the most fraud and our credit card processors have a real tight address definition. It must be exactly like your credit card statement address. We want to do all we can to make this easier - so if you have success, or find out why it's not working - please let us know.

One of the ironies of this is that the processors don't want to point out where the address error is because it helps the bad guys trying to create fraud! So, the evil efforts of a few affect the many...wish it was different.

Thanks for trying and look forward to speaking with you tomorrow!

Hi Joe,

Well, I finally got it to work tonight - you're right about the address thing: despite having binned my CC statements, I tried a couple more permutations & it really does want it just so

Wow! I'm really excited about this now! Though I'm not likely to hear it for a few weeks, it's really going to give me a good reason to look forward to coming home, when I get back from our forthcoming family holiday (vacation to you guys!)

Just one more thing: HTN has a $10 shipping option for overseas CD orders only, yet it looks from my order page as though I was charged $25, for the US Postal Economy Service. Which is correct? I'm hoping it's the $10, naturally!

We've got some software work to do in the overseas dept. So we manually check every overseas order to make sure it has the correct shipping charges...we're working on it!

Yes, we do have a $10, CD only, shipping service -sometimes it takes up to 5 weeks to arrive, although many people say it gets there quicker than that. For $5 more you can get two week delivey.

Glad things worked out...thanks for the order!

is the second disc of the show one of those like 30 minute poopers or a substantional 45+ minute disc.

One thing. I wouldnt mind a filler included in the archive realeses. Like if u have 50 mins left on a cd why not put it to good use

Peace
Lee

We are shipping 2-11-72 now.

The premise is that we are presenting a complete performance. If the show was longer then it would create more time on a second disc - if not, so be it.

The second disc on Stonybrook was about 40 minutes.

The second disc on the Macon 2-11-72 is about 30 minutes.

I can certainly understand the concept of wanting more!

Thanks for the input...

Id venture a wild guess that after you hear the Les Brers in A Minor, Trouble No More and Whipping Post on the 2/11/72 disc 2 no one will be labeling it as a "pooper disc"

This is great - thanks to all involved.

BTW, I'm in the UK too, so please check shipping costs as you mentioned above. Relating them to cost of CDs already killed me for the Instant Live 6 pack....I trade alot across the pond, and the shipping costs do seem high. Its worth it though...

Looking forward to this year's Instant Lives...or I could save my $ for a trip to next year's Beacon run...decisions...
