I just got a cassette tape of Classic Yes at a yard sale a couple weekends ago. It has the Anderson-Howe-Wakeman-Squire-White lineup doing a "previously unreleased" live version of "All Good People." I was happy to be able to make out some of the lyrics that had previously escaped my decoding:

"Senile good people trim their hedge these days so satisfied I'm on my way."

I listened to side 1 of Yessongs this morning, and all day I can't get parts of "Siberian Khatru" and "Heart of the Sunrise" out of my head--nor do I want to!

By the way, Monday, I think it was, Yes was the musical guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. They played an all-acoustic "Your Move" without going into "All Good People."

When I saw the Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe tour (whenever that was, early 90's?), they teased Heart of the Sunrise all night . . . then finally played it toward the end. That was a great show. The 2-CD set the released from that tour is pretty good, too.

I'm modifying my 7.11 post in bf:

I also listened to the "Yours Is No Disgrace" / "Starship Trooper" side. "Yours Is No Disgrace" is a real all-around tour de force! "Starship Trooper," though, has some of Jon's most oddly weak vocals. The whole song, he's just not hitting it, but for the worst example, how about his very last "old, accustomed wa-a-ays"? Even Steve's guitar in the "Wurm" section is too squawky, not warm enough (even by his trebly ES-175 standards).

But again: That "Yours Is No Disgrace" is a tremendous performance. And it's great to follow it up with "Siberian Khatru"!

I was just checking ahead at my local PBS station's website. This will be very cool! (As always, check local listings for date and time).

Soundstage
Yes The 35th Anniversary
Monday, October 4, 4:00am

The longest-lasting and most successful of the '70s progressive rock groups, the band Yes comes together with their classic lineup (Rick Wakeman, Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, and Chris Squire) celebrating their 35th year together.

The show opens with the band entering the arena to Stravinsky's 'Firebird Suite.' From that moment forward, Yes delivers an unforgettable performance, including classics such as 'Going for the One,' 'Your Move/All Good People,' and 'Yours Is No Disgrace.' Midway through the set they scale things down a bit and perform dazzling acoustic versions of 'Long Distance Runaround,' 'Roundabout,' and 'Owner of a Lonely Heart,' among others. The concert culminates with a rousing rendition of 'Starship Trooper.' Howe and Wakeman's dueling solos coupled with Anderson's powerful yet delicate vocals make for a memorable finale.

I saw them this spring with no opener- two long sets and boy was it sweet!
Only thing I missed it seems was Close to the Edge- which has made it into recent sets.
The opener(after the Firebird intro) was my favorite Yes song- Going For The One.
What a rocker!
After all these years, they still have it.

Yes on PBS? Must be pledge time again.....

I'll do a hidden B&P here - the last night of the Yes/Dream Theater tour - great sets from both, nice clean AUD recording - couple of minor problems, but great overall. Check my recent post in the Trades forum for full details.

First three to post here. PM me for address. DT, one disc, Yes, two discs.

Peace.

Many of you probably know this, but you can see the MSG show from their recent tour in Regal Cinemas all over the country tomorrow night........if you don't mind the odd pairing with Meat Loaf:

Haha--that does seem about right, Toova! This early-October airing is on Soundstage, though, which is a weekly hour-long concert show (always an exclusive performance in Chicago for WTTW [PBS channel 11], I think).
