Crazy!!!! What a freakin' show. When the torrents become available you must jump on them if you dig Oteil. Your intro to Yosi Piamenta will be enjoyable.....I promise.

Asaf Shor-drums
Moni Piamenta-vocals

Set 1:

Manic Depression (Oteil vocal)
Agadelcha

Set 2:

You know what sucks??? I saw this meltdown coming, but had Dickey tickets already. Hey... im not complaining - Dickey blew the roof off - but I think I should be consulted before all booking in the future to avoid catastrophic conflicts like this....

The BT is up, but few seeders currently. I'll check when I get home. Hopefully more folks will pull this in the meantime, so there will be more seeds. I wish there was more Oteil circulating.

GENTLEMEN......Start your engines.....

Great show. Couple of notes

1- Yosi busts a string right before his solo during Manic Depression and changes guitars mid song. Oteil keeps it going until the band regroups and tears it up.

2- Power of Soul the guys flub the ending, but they were having such a great time no-one seemed to care. Killer!!!!!!

3- Encore Hey Joe: A seemingly tipsy Piamenta nephew hops on stage and takes over the vocals, while celebrating his b'day. Oteil just keeps playing and laughing all the while

A must have, download this puppy now.

This sounds really cool. I'll have to get it on CD, though. They really played up the Hasidic Hendrix angle with all those Jimi covers.

The reason for so many Hendrix tunes is the short period of time the guys had to prepare for the show. Jimi's music was well known by Oteil, Yosi, and Asaf, though Yosi had never played Manic Depression, Power of Soul, or Hey Joe live before this gig.

The Hasidic Hendrix thing makes Yosi smile. He loves Jimi, who obviously had a huge impact on his musical life, but the nickname was given to him by a newspaper writer. As Yosi says "It's an honor to be compared to Jimi Hendrix but I'm just Yosi, nice to meet you."

You'll really dig Yosi's hebrew/arabic tunes. His guitar playing just has this dreamy quality to it. Oteil kept making mention of Yosi's tones............Just a fun show.

I know they are planning on doing it again. I don't know where and when, but I do know it will happen.

Enjoy!!!!

I will gladly hook anyone looking for a B&P up with an audience copy of the show. Hit me with an email: sammyspop@yahoo.com . Another bet is to keep checking Archive.org
http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15251

The band did a multi-track recording which will hopefully see the light of day soon.

I would love to hear the thoughts of anyone who has already heard the show.

I'm listening right now. Funky, funky, funky!

I wish I had seen this. I love watching Oteil play.

I'll do a BnP for the next three to post here and send a PM.

I know Oteil wants to do it again, with more time to advertise the show properly. We weren't able to confirm the show and find a room 'till very late in the game I'm afraid. The Crash mansion turned out to be a nice venue though. Kudos to club owner, Paul (a big Oteil fan) who was so gracious in helping it all come together on such short notice.

Also, if you follow Sammy's BT link, there are 24 seeds right now, so the show is just flying in.

That was what I figured. It just seems that much more appropriate given the nickname.

Are the Hebrew-titled songs originals or jammed-out traditional songs?

This is definitely some interesting music. Oteil's got the groove covered, and this dude can play some guitar, too. The Hebrew songs are nice and trippy (a la maki madni . . . not exactly, but they've got a definite middle-eastern thing going on). I'd like to hear Derek thrown into this mix.

Yeah, I was imagining something like that and wondering what Derek would think. Maybe somebody can get a copy to him?

Has anybody downloaded this off Archive.org yet? If so, is it the same recording? Because the one I downloaded off of etree has very little bass on it. Anybody else feel the same thing?

DAVID. I think had they had more time to rehearse the song selections wouldn't have been so Jimi driven, thus more bass solos. Hopefully next time. Regardless of any shortcomings this first show might of had everyone had a blast.

The funny thing about Derek. Yosi's brother Avi (lives in Israel) is an amazing flute player. When Kofi and Oteil heard Avi play they were blown away. The only live recording in the trading world of Avi and Yosi in a club setting is the Makor Show on archive.org.

Brendan or anyone else for that matter that may have dowloaded the show. What did you think?

Opinions as to what worked and what didn't are appreciated.

I thought Cissy Strut, Mitzvah, Little Wing and Agadelcha were major highlights. How do you think the guys did with Liz Reed?
