My topic on fav album goes astray, therefore this topic

What would your choice be if it's your funeral ? Which song would you like to hear
your friend to remember you when they hear again the song...

A hard choice I know.....I choose for WILD HORSES by the Rolling Stones ( On Sticky Fingers)

I'm going with Hellhound On My Trail by Robert Johnson

Just joking, I've actually got some classical stuff picked out.

Mine would be the lovely Sandy Denny ( another outrageously underated musician ) singing the Fairport Convention classic ' Who knows where the time goes

The background music when the Masters is on CBS. That is beautiful music. I want Jim Nance and Ken Venturi doing the color commentating.

Nance- "Chris lived an undulating life, too bad he drowned under the Sarazen Bridge."
Venturi-"I gotta feelin' Jim, he won't be in Amen Corner."

When it's my time to be laid to rest I simply want my friends gathered around singing Oncoming Traffic and Will The Circle Be Unbroken .

Kinda morbid to some folks, but I don't fear death.... when I first heard Gregg's album, The Gregg Allman Tour I thought those last 2 tunes would be perfect for a funeral.
All these years later I still feel that way.

I want Will The Circle Be Unbroken from Laid Back played at mine, followed by the piano coda from Layla. I think I also wouldn't mind hearing Springsteen and Roy Bittan's acoustic version of Thunder Road from the Live Box set. Brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. All 3 are stark in their beauty.

Well, to start out, since I will have my trademark black socks on...
Back In Black
Knockin On Heavens Door
Fallen Angel (Robbie Robertson) (I did use this at a funeral.)
These Days
Ripple
To Lay Me Down
Black Peter
Will The Circle be Unbroken
Feel Like I'm Going Down Slow
It's So Hard To Say Goodbye (Patti Loveless)
and the preacher can talk his jive over the backdrop of Mountain Jam
and as everyone is leaving, I want really loud..... "Why Don't We Do It In The Road?"

I guess if people are still around put the entire Fillmore East on real damn loud.....

Oh yeah, the Band, Long Black Veil....... forgot that.

What would go well with the sound of the dynamite blowing up my casket?

How about Zep's "in my time of dying"

"If my wings should fail me, Lord, please meet me with another pair"

Followed by Johnny Cash and the Carter Family "Peace in the Valley"

And then any old time gospel will work. I like the arrangements
in the Old Methodist hymn book.

Play happy music and dance after the funeral.
Any ABB shuffle will do.

Hug and Kiss all my friends for me.

Peace
John

Knocking on Heaven's Door, GNR version. My Profile answers why.

1.) Mama take this badge from me
I cant use it any more.
Its getting dark to dark to see
feels like I'm knocking on heavens door.

Ref.:
knock knock knocking on heavens door
knock knock knocking on heavens door
knock knock knocking on heavens door
knock knock knocking on heavens door

2.) Mama put my guns in the ground. I cant shoot them any more
That dark black cloud i comming down,
feels like I m knocking on heavens door

And if Warren wants to show up and sing "Worried Down With the Blues",
I would truly appreciate it.

Be safe,
John

Maybe it's too obvious , but I always thought "To Lay Me Down" by the Dead from the Reckoning album is THE Perfect funeral song.
