Just curious, what does he hear? Inspirational tapes from Dr. Phil? Chris Rock comedy albums? Grateful Dead 05/08/77?

He hears what the guys in front have to say, they are hooked up on small mikes so Butch hears what they say through his headphones. Believe that is what it's for. I could be wrong though.

The headphones are Butch's monitors. They are hooked up to a 75 watt Crown amplifier, which is fed by a little Macke mixer which receives its input from the monitor mix board. This means he can control the amt. of Derek, Warren, Gregg, Otiel, etc. he hears in his headphones.

I thought it was predictions from Gina that he's supposed to relay to Gregg. I could be wrong though.

Butch is listening to Jaimoe's and Marc's drumming along with the whole band, this is so he stays on time and is precise. It's a good technique for keeping time while you're drumming, I should try it sometime.
