A favorite saying of Ronnie Van Zant from Skynyrd on stage was "What Song Is It You Want To Hear?"
If the ABB could only play one song what would it be? What song more than any other defines the ABB?

i agree, Mtn Jam, but i'll take it that one step further

Mountain Jam > Blue Sky riff > Afro Blue > Will the Circle Be Unbroken > Mountain Jam

is this even possible? stretch it out to a good 40-60 minutes

hahahaha, life would be boring without dreams.

I'd have to say "Whipping Post" without a doubt. I'd say Gregg's vocals are too important of a part of the overall ABB sound to choose an instrumental, besides, you get some massive instrumental passages in that song as well.

Dreams

This as been my favorite song most of my life...even in my childhood days. I went through a period in high school when Skynyrd was my favorite band(gasp!) and Dreams was still my favorite song! There is something sbout this tune that is so "epic," there is no other song like it in my book.

Very good point Paulie, but I have to go with Mtn Jam with a Franklins Tower and Blue Sky teaser.

I'd pick You Don't Love Me. A nice long 25+ minute version of it. I don't think it defines the band, there are much better songs for that, but if I had to hear one song only, that is it.

...hmm...we only get one song.....

Initial quick reaction is to say Mountain Jam, but Paulig made a very good point about Whipping Post and Gregg's vocals (and not just the fact that there are vocals, but the nature of the lyrics and the way they are delivered...)

...yeah...you only give me one song, and I'll pick Whipping Post (..and this doesn't change what I've said before - that Blue Sky is my overall favorite...I just pick WP as the one that better "defines" the ABB....)
